I was with my buddy today driving in his GN. We went to Crappy Tire to get some stuff. Came out, drove down the street, turned the corner and no gears work, not even reverse????? We never even gave her any lumps either..
Man do I ever hate pushing these boat ankors:mad: What could this be? When we got the car back to his place we jacked it up and drained the pan. Nothing was burnt and it had enough fluid in it. The fluid was nice and red like it came out of the bottle. And yes, the shifter linkage is working perfectly. This is a 200R4 tranny. Is this a simple fix or does the tranny have to come out? Any thoughts?? This tranny was freshened up over the winter and has maybe 50 miles on it if that.

.

Sounds like what I'm going through! (Tranny pump) Pull the tranny and see if the notches are broken on the pump just pass the front seal. Also check the hub on the torque converter. What converter is he running?

I think its a PTC converter or Art Carr. I will tell him to start pulling it out.:frown:
Chris or Bruce, you guys have any thoughts on this?

Even simpler than a line pressure test, do a fluid level test. Check the level with the engine off and it should show overfull. Start the engine and recheck. If the reading doesn't change at all, there's a good chance that the pump is broken.

If, by chance, the second reading yields a normal level, you either have a failed converter spline or broken transmission direct drum shaft.
