You gotta drop the trans pan, pull the valve body, install a different valve and manual valve, remove a checkball and drill a hole in the spacer plate. Pretty straight forward.

I still have the directions on mine too if interested :)

Correct you are Joe. And if the user wants to remove the SR brake, the seperator plate mod just makes for firmer shifts so it is not detrimental to the trans.

Right, I just took it outta my TA, and it shifts fine. I talked to a few trans experts about the plate and was told not to worry about it.

I have no billet parts in my trans at the moment.I have launched the car about 10 times scince i put the brake in.I have not broken anything YET:) .But i can tell you this, The first time you launch the car with the brake around 15#s of boost,HANG-ON cause it is one great launch. The difference between a footbrake launch and a t-brake launch is that the suspension is already unlaoded when using the footbrake,So when you launch wit hteh transbrake you get to feel the suspension unload, and it is a cool feeling.Look at my pic to the left, thats a 15# t-brake launch.

KLHAMMETT,

Dont you mean that with a foot brake the suspension is loaded and with the trans brake its unloaded .?

Guys, You're killing me.
I've got one sitting under the Christmas Tree and can't wait to install it. A little better weather wouldn't hurt either. BTW, Mike Kurtz at Century is also seeling the "Shift Right" trans brake. It's identical in every way to the old Mallender unit my brother installed.

if your tires hook, you will not believe the difference a t-brake makes.......and the Stage Right works just fine for me....just don't leave the garage door opener on the visor..........

Thats funny! My last pass netted me a rear seat mirror, instead of a rear view mirror!:D

I have had very good luck with my SR brake. When I race at the track, I light the pre-stage bulb and apply the brake. The car rolls just enough to light the staged bulb and then I build the boost. Car leaves like it's getting kicked in the A$$!! Man, what a rush!

I would love to put the Stage Right T-Brake in my tranny. My car doesen't shift to second when it's supposed to. My shift light is set for 5400 and I'll never see it. I have a TCI tranny, the TV cable is set correctly, too. The valve body has been calibrated to BRF specs I'm told.

I can see it now, I am going to break ****!:D I should be able to zing the 61 with what I have pretty easily so 15 PSI launches should be easy enough. Time to get the other trans sorted out:)

Well I can give a little input here.

You are doing the exact same thing as a neutral drop with that SR brake. The roller clutch takes the load and EVERYONE we and other shops have pulled out and cked , the springs are all rolled over in the sprag. Save yourself the 200 bucks and just neutral drop it . Same thing.

Now, The Bat Brake Holds the low clutch on release so the sprag doesnt see the load. It also utilizes low gear like normal. Also, the rest of the trans is built around the brake. Direct drum and center are highly modified and it is one serious piece. Not a novelty Piece.

Just for info release time is .028 seconds, for the record.

You must also take into consideration the shifter cable, detent cone and linkage wear when "striking" the shifter to leave. Not to mention you are going against the g force trying to shove forward, leaving. The Bat Brake will not rock or roll thru lights. Rear end backlash does play a slight part here with any brake.
Chris718 makes a brake too and again, he was smart to protect the sprag. No offense, but the with SR brake you are basically building a bomb. Talk to Chris, to Lonnie, Vince Janis or Eric Shertz. You guys need to look at what the big boys are running. Eric Shertz FOR A FACT I know runs a Bat Brake. Lonnie does too. Scott you do too. Vince Janis does, Red Armstrong does, so with that in mind, there must be something to it. Also, I can speed up release time or slow it down. Lonnie bitched for a year about how fast it was cause he kept red lighting on a pro tree!!! NOW ...That is saying something there buddy!

The Bat Brake works absolutly normal in street auto mode and if installed in any car, would never know it was even there .

No matter what Brake you do choose, please remember, especially if you have ever seen one come apart, to protect it with a trans shield. Blankets are ok if you can install some styrofoam or something of that nature, to keep blanket from sealing in heat. NHRA and IHRA are both very much aware now that these products are available for our cars so be careful with tech. Safety should be first.

TRANSBRAKES AND HEAT GENERATION go hand and hand. ALWAYS install the biggest cooler you can and as much sump volume as possible. ALWAYS have the cooler in front, fresh air flow. Never repeatedly lauch Brake on street without suffecient time to cool down. Heat will kill.......... that is a promise...:D

I can answer anything you could ever want to know about the BATBRAKE. just ask.....;)

Oh to answer your first question, what is the deal? The deal is technology which costs Money vs what can I get by with?.... That is the bottom line..........Hrrmmm Imagine that?

To elaborate further...

Ask an old Chrysler racer about low sprags and transmissions.
The 727 and 904 Chrysler trans' have the same sprag set up. In fact the 904 one IS EXACTLY THE SAME!!! Part # for Part # as a 2004r. Now years ago Steve Griner came up with a rev pattern Torqueflite brake that would hold the low band on and release timed before the 1-2 shift occured. AWESOME piece. Have installed many. This in turn prevented sprag failure of whacking the sprag. This is still the leading transbrake for these particular trannys to date still, Griner's TF Brake. ( Only one I will ever use.)
When I started this deal I spoke with him at length, considering the sprag I was dealing with was THE EXACT same as a 904 and he helped me to hold the low clutch on throughout release.
Ask an old Chrysler racer how many times he has seen a Torqueflite come apart. We had one here at Sacto a few years back that when sprag let go it launched the high drum, in several pieces mind you, through the roof of the car!!!! Now that is friiggin scarey!!!!! Through the roof!!!

How much do you value your right leg and/or your life? That is the question.............

Only problem I have with electric tbrakes is solenoid reliabilty...Seen it many times...Get to the track, go to make a pass, and no tbrake. No worries with a manual brake...but often at the cost of expensive tranny parts..
