Hey Bruce how about a GP on the Bat Brake?

When are you going to be set up in your new shop? I need to send my 9/11 back for a restall.

How in the world do you get thru tech without a trans shield/blanket? NHRA requirement for 10.99 & down
The tech guys at my local track don't believe me when I say it runs faster than elevens. They rarely check the rear mounted battery stuff and only once (in five seasons) checked the kill switch. They always ask for driveshaft loop, helmet and check dates on safety belts, but that's it. If an inspector doesn't see a big curly black wire going to your steering with a big red button sticking out of the steering wheel...he isn't going to ask about a trans shield.

Surely you race somewhere besides Bowling Green?
Just Norwalk, BG, Morocco, Bristol and National Trail. But no NHRA or IHRA sanctioned events.

sounds like life in the tech lane is good in the midwest!

our two local tracks tech the hell out of every black car that comes thru the gate....they have seen too many of them go fast!

Firebird even decorates your rear window with an ET # (like 11.0) and if you go faster, your next stop after picking up your time slip is tech!

Once there, you have to prove your car legal for that ET or out you go!

Fun, eh?

On my visit there this year I can say that I have seen that first hand. Firebird is really strict! They also verbally blast anyone that oils the track down over the PA for everyone to hear! If I recall, don't they phase the timer also so both cars don't leave at the same time? I remember something different with the way they run down the track.

i just wanted to give my .02 worth on this thread.

I have had a stage right trans brake in my car for 3 years now. I have never had a problem with reliability of the trany or the release time. I can easily manage low .5xx reaction times. I absolutely love it.

On the bat and the electric brakes, Do I think they are better? yes.

I would list the pro's and cons of each but i am only really familiar with the Stage right.

Here is what i know about the stage right. the stage right is very simple, reliable, cheap and easy to install. it does release a little slower and the car can roll slightly after engaging it. the roll distance seems to me about as much as having the car in park. I never even notice this because of my stageing procedure. I pull up to the line and light one light, stall up to about 6-7-8# of boost and then move into the second stage beam. I engage the brake and floor it. i have a micro switch on the shifter so it grounds the rev limitor on my msd. it revs to a programed rpm and i launch. my 60's are identical to the thousanth every pass. I leave my foot lightly on the brake to keep my chassis loaded so the dreaded roll is not a factor. the best 60' i have had with the brake is 1.37 the best without it 1.58 (I do have large shoes and the larger s-10 brake cylinders so holding it on the line was not a factor)

3 years and no failures... I imagine you could have either of the two if you wanted but you chose a Stage-Right and have been doing well. Hard to believe you have been in the 9's on it and haven't broken anything with no billet internals. Racing is a crap-shoot regardless of any component period!!

Bat brake + Eric Shertz...

I used to have a Stage-Right in my car and I removed it because it is a piece of s***! It is very difficult to cut a good light with it, and having to push the shifter to leave isn't a move that I would say is "natural". When racing a turbo car, you got enough of having to stage properly, build up boost which in turn doesn't leave much time to concentrate on cutting a good light, although some guys have been able to, but not me.:( I'm now running Bruce's "Bat Brake" with all the billet stuff needed with it, and what a difference! :D There is no rollout, and you build up boost, and simply release the button, and away we go!!! :D And most important, not a single problem!...I had installed by Eric Shertz at Dynotech in Manville, N.J. Simply a great guy, one of the best transmission men around!
Thanks, Bruce and Eric!
'bye, Claude :)
