HA!

Our solenoid will never fail. It is a 4500 psi at 450 degrees hydraulic valve operated solenoid. Sounds like a shotgun releasing. In fact another member is using them for switching valves for fuel systems. I will Gaurentee if you have a solenoid problem with a bat brake it is your wiring related and NOT the solenoid. They are bad ass. Call me and I will send you one to look at . Operate it with air. Bet you are very impressed...;) Look at how it actually operates. No plunger to get hot or screw up.

ck it out....

Someone mentioned that having to put a deep pan on to fit the bat brake in the trans as a down side to doing it, to that I would say "not so" it may add to cost of it but again you get what you pay for. The sr brake is nice and works but for how long? is the question, and if your launching that hard with a stock pan than tell me were your fluid is going on the launch??? To the back of the pan, and here comes more trouble air/slipping/heat not a good thing! Just my .02 cents. :D

Its not a downside,Just raises the cost alot. The bat brake by far is the better setup handsdown. But you are looking at 750 to do it the right way.Eventualy i will do it.But for now i am using this setup.

Thanks Bruce. I knew there was a very technical reason the Stage Right was horribly hurting the parts (other than it's lowsy reaction time, and huge rollout) in the tranny (BTW you forgot to mention me as another unfortunate victim of it). It's been a while now, but I seem to remember having to have those parts replaced on the last rebuild (when I got your billet parts installed). I was shown a "bag" of cracked parts, but no longer remember which they were, but I seem to recall the sparg was there).
Anyway, thanks again for reminding me of one of the "many" reasons mine went into the trash bin.

Otto-
I can tell you that most of the time when something stock does break in the trans, it is violent and sudden and does not through any trash around inside. Normally it is the drum shaft and mine was sheered off like i cut it with a laser. Input shaft was fine and all other parts were good. I am changing the Low/reverse sprag assembly as the SR is hard on them as well as changing to billet internals.

Otto-
I guess I should have added that I too still have the sr brake in mine, but after learning and seeing what it does I'm scared to use it. Yes it usually breaks parts clean but with my luck I'd be in the % that scatters parts and even if not your still pulling the tranny to repace them and gonna do a rebuild and upgrage while it's out. So the $500 you save is gonnna be spent anyway.. right?!

Jason is not a distributor of the StageRight transbrake. Rather he is the "contract manufacturer." If you call Jason (or e-mail him) he can tell you for whom he makes the parts.

Jason - your status as a contract manufacturer would allow you to take advantage of an exception to §956 and not call this an investment in US property averting any Subpart F - Foreign Income Inclusion rules...that is, if you were making them overseas. But my International taxation planning idea is a digression from this thread. 'cuse me.

Re: Well I can give a little input here.

You are doing the exact same thing as a neutral drop with that SR brake.
Not exactly as the SR will at least "lock up" the trans when engaged without the use of the footbrake. Granny dropping would require you to rev the motor in neutral while still holding the car still with the footbrake

Now, The Bat Brake holds the low clutch
{throughout first gear} on release so the sprag doesn't see the load. It also utilizes low gear like normal.
People - you need to re-read this. The BIG benefit here is that you are utilizing a second set of clutches (the low clutches) during first gear. Normally, when the car leaves the line in any shifter position other than 1st, the trans only has the direct clutches engaged. If you put you shifter in "1" (which is a requirement of the BAT barke for engagement) you get to use both the Direct and Low clutches. Your benefit/result? Less slippage. Less slippage means faster 60-foot times and less wear & tear on the clutches, meaning - a longer lived transmission. :D

No matter what Brake you do choose, please remember, especially if you have ever seen one come apart, to protect it with a trans shield.
<snip>sprag let go it launched the high drum, in several pieces mind you, through the roof of the car! <snip>I can answer anything you could ever want to know about the BATBRAKE. just ask...
OK, you got me scared now. How do I obtain a shield for my BAT brake-equipped 200-4R?

The deep pan is needed as the solenoid/manifold assembly goes further towards the back of the trans than does the stock pan. The stock pan basically only goes as far towards the back of the trans as is needed to enclose the valvebody. Further, since the solenoid and manifold are mounted such that their lowest point(s) is/are lower than the standard VB, the deeper pan becomes a necessity.

I have them

We sell the sheilds. I have to admit, with all going on right now I havent been paying that much attention. But I do have them, they fit, and they are nice. Three colors. If I remember correctly they are about 149.99 But my mind is full so dont hold me to that. :D

being that i work in a trans shop and build trannies,it is easy for me to tear it out, repair it,andput it back in.But i am going to bowling green this year and will bring a spare trans and spare parts,Just in case i need an on sight rebuild:D
unless i get the money then i will go bat brake.

Scott

How in the world do you get thru tech without a trans shield/blanket?

NHRA requirement for 10.99 & down

Surely you race somewhere besides Bowling Green?:D

BAT brake

I've had my BAT brake installed for 3 years with out a single failure. The car runs 9.7@142mph on a 2004r with lots of driving. I freshen up the tranny every three years.
BT shipped the parts to my local tranny shop for installation. Bruce actually call out of the blue to see how the install went! :) I've always used a tranny temperature guage. The temperature drop is very noticeable with the big pan and probably saved my tranny many times.
For a few extra bucks go with the best.

Getting the best first can save the most in the long run...

Like me ol' Pappy was fond of sayin': "Son, sometimes a bargain ain't no bargain!".

:)

WE4, I wish the Bat Brake would fit with your shallow aluminium pan. I dont want a deep pan on a street car around here. We have to many dips and potholes. Make it work with a shallow pan and I'll order one up next year.

On a side note. I never should have let you talk me out of the tranny brake when you built my tranny. Having the SR brake was the best traction mod I ever did.

See tho...

Now There is an Honest guy. I "talked you out of" because I felt you didnt need or require it. Maybe I was wrong, but how wrong would it have been to sell you something that you didn't need or require?

I hope you understand, but I am happy you are happy and I still feel better I didnt sell you something you didnt need. We could have always added it later and since I supposedly "talked you out of it" I will do something to make it a better deal for you. As far as the shallow pan tho, well I do not think that will happen. What the hell you doing 4 wheeling a GN anyway? ROFLMAO. You are supposed to keep it "ON" the street. LOL:D

A better deal is certainly tempting, but I already rub the exhaust system on the drive trying to get into my shop (steep ramp), so I cant have anything hanging down lower than it already is :(

JUST MY .02

I believe that a transbrake is an absolute must,It should be one o your first mods,as it helps your reaction times,no rolling tru the light and a way more consistent and controlable launch.(mainly because it a turbo car.
