I was wondering if i couuld maybe get some opinions on what people prefer with regards to electric trans brakes in a turbo 400.

I plan on having a reverse valve body if that matters.

Also, please list the reasons why you would recommend a certain brand.

Thanks guys,

Adrian

Stage 2 TH400 transmission

Hey Chris,

"Your Quote"
Each transmission is professionally assembled and given a thorough DYNO test to ensure performance and quality prior to shipping

Do you use a Transmission Dyno for this testing or do you test it in a 2000HP equipped mule vehicle ?

Is the optional SFI approved bell housing an UltraBell or do you use another brand ?

What about a Griner w/safe neutral feature? I just learned about these. Seems like a pretty cool feature.

what is the safe neutral feature? Is it a neutral lockout? How are they incomparison to price?

EXTREME AUTOMATICS. Lonnie stocks the Griner brakes also. Very quick release. Must have for running on a pro tree.

X2 on this one. I have never felt a more solid trans brake in my life!!! Saying it reacts quick is an understatement. Definately a must for a pro tree!

KAROLKO,I am not here to start a fued about valve bodies with Steve Greiner or Extreme Automatics.I will tell you that every brake including the Greiner uses the stock hi gear passage.I dont. The passage I use holds 1/10 the volume of oil that the others use. This provides the fastest shift to hi gear and the fastest brake release.A secondary shuttle valve in the valve body gives instant brake set up with 180 psi line and 3 dump points for the brake.A stock casting may not be as pretty as a billet aluminum piece but our iron stocker will outperform any of griner types where it is important, brake applt, brake release and hi clutch apply.2 cubic inches of oil between the manual valve and the reverse side of the direct clutch piston.Anyone local with a 400 brake is welcome to test run ours at no charge and if it doesnt work better You dont pay.I spent 4 years tweaking it after the original design .

We have released 6 new VBs for the TH400. None of the new VBs use the case passage for 3rd gear. You would be looking at the G-10.1 or the G-15 Safe Neutral.

I hope you're inviting someone to some good ol' fashioned home cooking.

Either of the above brakes would work fine.

The Griner brake has a proven reputation and the "bling" factor. If you need safe neutral (aluminum rodded motor, etc) I would probably recommend the Griner.

However,
The CK brake isn't fancy looking but it works as advertised. It's quick.
