Trans fluid does need heat to prevent Oxidation & Condensation making a home in the Trans which is as bad as in an Engine. The Glue/Bonding agent used on Clutch Frictions is water based. Driving in cold weather with an External/Auxillary Trans Cooler only can allow Condensation to never be boiled/cooked off.
Ideal Temp is 175*-225*F. >>
