I can't remember since the last time I took out the trans but does the exhaust have to be removed? The stock hanger attaches to the rear mount so I assume I have to remove the hanger from the cat converter flange. Do I have to completely remove the rear crossmember or can I just loosen it enough? If I have to remove the crossmember then I guess I will need to remove the exhaust. What about the starter motor?
Do I have to support the rear of the engine after pulling the trans?
I wish my memory was better but after 5-6 yrs of doing this allot happens and the mind goes. Thanks

I leave the exhaust in place, crossmember in place (don't even loosen it), the cat hanger stays attached and I just set it out of the way, I do separate the rubber trans mount and remove it. No need to remove starter, I don't support the motor either.

Exhaust does not have to be removed. The hanger will basically come out after you disconnect the trans mount. The crossmember needs to slide back quite a few inches, so all bolts need to be removed. Starter does need to be removed, and I did not support the rear of the engine when I took mine out. May not be a bad idea, but I do not think it is mandatory.

Disconnect the hanger from the trans, swing it out of the way. No need to even loosen the crossmember, the trans will go past it if you move the tailshaft to the side. No exhaust removal needed. Engine will be supported by the mounts...

Pay attention to the tv cable attachment and the shift cable attachment. No sense in having to replace either because they get crushed or broken. I'm sure the plastic is much more brittle now than when I broke them years ago.
