I haven't heard to many nice things about these. Do any of you own one that is nice and sits flush on your A pillar? I need one but am thinking it may be a road to get a good one. Any pointers and I'm all over it.
Thanks guys

I got one and was disappointed with the fit. It did NOT come from gbodyparts though. I was hoping to find a piece that would replace the A pillar and hold gauges, but the one I got is made to go over the original piece. Without the factory A pillar molding the exposed door jamb shows. I decided not to use it and went with this instead: GNS. Can't afford the gauges I want yet though, lol.

I may just have a custom one made I guess. It sounds like they all come from the same place and nobody likes them. Seems like a very adressable issue. Suprised it hasn't been fixed yet.

let me know how it goes... i have been contemplating doin the same very thing..... i bought one and am disappointed as well.... sux:rolleyes:

I am thinking of taking the A pillar off, and taking the single pod that I already have. Use that as a mock and just form it from that using the original A pillar. Something to that matter. Either way It really cant be that bad. Can it? haha

i bought one but have not installed it yet hope i have better luck with mines, but i did buy it used maybe thats why the guy was selling it ?

I just checked gbody parts. GBodyParts.com Online Their reply in a review about the manufacturer "There is only 1 manufacturer of this item available for our vehicles. There are no other manufacturers. Every vendor that carries this Pod receives them from the same manufacturer."

They're made by Lotek. They don't have the lip that folds around. Which allows wires, lines, etc to the gauges to show. Plus the plastic looks warped where the gauge pods are. Certainly not a very attractive piece. However opposed to the other gauge pod I had, the gauges are at least angled right in my direction.

I just recently did the Lotek 3 gauge a pillar install. Thinking of seeing if there's a way to somehow "merge" the original A pillar and the one from Lotek so it at least looks like a somewhat decent install.

you're right, it seems one cast mold to make this Triple Pillar guage pod.
I have an 87 GN T-Top using the Triple Pillar guage pod, and I had to cut off the top and also used the existing A Pillar pod. I had an extra single pod so I cut off about an inch of it to cover the two Pillar pod jointed section
Yes I know about the ScanMaster location and It's already been moved to a better visual location.

If this thing is such a Pos why doesn't the vendors encourage the manufacturer to step up the quality. Seems like a pretty popular item that we all want. Be nice if they would get it right

Tooling costs are outrageous, and profit margins too low for the number of units that would be sold. Its a losing proposition.

^^^^ exactly....

i have been thinking of taking my original, cutting pods off of lotek unit and some how bonding them and using some sort of sealer/fiberglass to smooth joints before paint....

How about this one? It replaces the original A-pillar trim. These sell in the neighborhood of $60

I am going to order one here soon.

You mean this thing don't fit right? Dang. I currently have the double pod that you attach to the original trim. Looks like crap I think. I guess I'll have to think of something else. Thanks.

not only does it NOT fit right....

..... but they have gotten cheap in there manufacturing.... the new ones are much more flimsy and cheap feeling.... my original dual pillar, although still not fitting perfect, at least felt sturdy and beefy:(

Here's some pics of my recent A pillar gauge install....

Looking thru the windshield it's wavy/warped due to the pods. it also doesn't fit around the A pillar metal, leaving a gap.

An underside pic, again showing the waviness, due to the pods.

Here's a shot of the bottom in the door jamb....notice how it doesn't mate up against the existing trim strip...I had to push it up in the last pic...

There's enough of a gap/the lack of the wrap around trim to expose the wires for the gauges.

However at least the gauges are much easier to read.

Hopefully this will influence your decision on if you want to invest in one of these....or not.
