Has anyone else purchased the expensive copper gasket that goes between the compressor housing and the exhaust elbow and have it fit like absolute garbage? I put it on the only way the holes line up and the ridge on the gasket is way off causing a huge gap and in turn causing a massive leak. Where do I go from here? Did I get.a faulty gasket or am I not seeing something here? Thanks

You don't need a gasket there. The opening in the gasket is most likely for a Q trim wheel, which is larger than the stock housing/elbow.

Okay, so the mating surfaces alone will supply enough of a seal?

As long as they're reasonably flat! You should also put a light smear of a hi temp silicone sealer like Permatex Red Hi temp silicone sealer on it too .

You should be good to go then. :)

The sealing surfaces on that turbo are within .0005. So it's very flat. I never run gaskets on the outlet. I do run rtv on the inlet. If one of the surfaces looks a little crusty on the outlet after running a file over it I'll either re-machine it or use a thin smear or copper rtv also.
