Guys this really makes it all worth wild and we appreciate all the kind things said and support.

I received my TB.COM Thong and ladies shirt for the wife, just trying to get her to model it:eek:

WOW

I wanna see the thong pics:D

Maybe I can get my wife convinced if she does it hahaha:D

She tried them on and looked pretty hot in them, problem is they were not on long enough for me to snap pictures. Hey it is my wife so I can bend a little:D

Thanks for the TB.com gear. The T-shirts and thong undies were a big hit at a track rental we had yesterday. I wish I had bought more. I ended giving away most of my stash. We had over 20 Turbo Buicks, including Jack Cotton, Billy Anderson, Allen Witter, etc. Thanks to the TB.com members for comming out yesterday, and thanks to TB.com for such a great web site.....the BEST.

True Member?

If memory serves, years ago there was a non descript "button" to click to make a donation to the operation of the board. That may have been under a previous owner.

Back then when I was new to the TR world and in the middle of a restoration I was happy to make a donation as the resource to me was invaluable. Even though I no longer own a TR I still like to lurk and read about them. Someday I will own another one. Family and business interests have had to come first.

I think the direction of this "optional" donation and the amounts that people are posting are somewhat offensive and reeks of some kind of ego trip. Especially posting of dollar amounts.

It's kinda like your tithe at church. Do you tell everyone how much you put in the offering? I hope not. It is personal.

True members? That is kind of an elitist take in my humble opinion. Back under my rock...................

I understand what you're saying completely. I think the public rallying and whatnot is often the only way to get some people motivated. Shortly before Christmas we were trying to scare up money for Toys For Tots over on t6p.com.....and the listing of the amounts donated actually made it into a good-hearted competition that encouraged folks to maybe give a little more than they would have otherwise. Kind of a perspective issue.

But the point is that this board is a For Profit Business. It is not a charity. There is nothing wrong with that.

If you want to support a charity, there are tons of one's in your local communities that would love to have your time or money. You support this board by buying from vendors who advertise here.

The members create the traffic that allows the owners to charge vendors for advertising space. Additionally, the board gives tons of "free" information to vendors about likes, concerns, etc that can be used to better serve and sell to TR owners.

Yes, the members get a benefit of sharing information, but the owners and vendors are not hurting from the experience. If they were you would hear about it.

So we are all on the same page, we have not asked for anything. Read the thread, this was started by a member here as a good idea, all we did was to add to it by stating that if you want to support the board, great. Buy the gear we offer, that is more than enough.

If you look at any of the message boards most have calendars or gear for sale to off-set the time and energy into these web sites. There is nothing wrong with that. If you see it any other way and are reading into it, sorry.

If a member wants to do something nice and go above and beyond, that is great IMO. Shows they really enjoy the site and its value.

I am well aware that the board does not ask for donations. My whole point is that I think it is offensive to members in general for it to be suggested that they are not "true members" unless they volunteer to dontate to a board that says it does not need funds from its members. That does not make sense to me. If you want to do something nice, do it because it is right, do not call people out or grandstand with how much you donated. It seems pretty fundamental to me.

If you have gained from the use of this board (like I have) do what the intent is... support the vendors that make it possible. Bruce has helped a ton of people out and they should give him first crack at serving thier transmission needs if at all possible.

Show me where any of us suggested this:confused: or is this your perception:eek:

If you see a member started this thread, him like you should be able to voice his or her opinion. If you feel offended do not read it;)

I think the members intent was to do something above and beyond. I do not find anything wrong with that, he is entitled to post his feelings. Maybe he does not need any parts from the vendors.

I agree, if I call Microsoft they charge you for Tech Support:eek:

Thanks for taking the time to respond. We have both spent too much time on this.

The original post says something to the tune of "true members" etc.

I think my "take" is validated by the limited response of the thousands of members of this board.

I also think that any smart vendor can drive revenue for thier company if they spend some time here and help with tech issues.
It is pretty simple. It is called the law of reciprocity. You do me a "favor" and I feel obligated to "return" the favor... ie give you first dibs on my next purchase... There is nothing wrong with it. It makes the world go round.
