Im really trying to stay away from the headache of pulling out my gastank and welding a sump in it for my new external pump setup. So I went looking for stock location fuel tanks and found the beautiful one at tr custom parts, then realized its aluminum and I am making the switch to E-85 :(

I dont want to run a cell....must be stock location. Anyone making custom stainless steel tanks with sumps? Sigh....need some ideas here. Im honestly thinking of saying screw E-85 soon with all the road blocks its been giving me with ohh dont run this or that with e-85. And I have no experience with it to make my own judgments...The countless debates I read over it..... I wanna feel like im on a racegas tune all the time this summer but am really getting tired of skipping through hoops and having to double check compatibility all the time.

I know its not really the fuel itself..more so the moisture if the fuel sits around for a while unattended but im starting to feel pump gas will just give me soo many less headaches. Am I even safe running aluminum rails?

I was talked into E-85 and now im either looking for all the right parts to finish my build and be pointed in the correct direction or be talked out of it :D Sorry for the rant but its really hard to get settled on one side or the other when every thread i read pulls me one way and the next one pulls me the other. All I know is I keep spending money and getting a little closer to my goal

No replies :( Better question I suppose..has anyone ran an aluminum tank/rails and had no issues while running e-85?

I am running an aluminum cell and fuel rails not anodized. I installed a shut off on the cell vent to keep the air out when not in use, so far no issues.

Don't use the RobbMc with an external pump. they are meant for mechanical pumps on carburated engines. You will starve the external pump briefly which is not good for most electric fuel pumps. I would go with the aluminum tank and not worry about it. If you were going to run methanol then answer would be very different! Ethanol is just not that agressive with aluminum.

Thanks for the replies.. And yea about the RobbMc...I just read too much concerning how its just not enough with a big external. And my external is decent size.

The only real worry about the tank is weather or not its clean...ethanol is not corrosive like methanol....biigg difference

I ran e85 with the stock tank with a drop in walbro 340 hot-wired with an additional inline Bosch pump for I'd say close to a year. People tend to over react with all the e85 this, e85 that technical bs... Put the gas in the car, tune the sucker with more boost and go have some fun!!!

Agreed...My Stage2 car runs no problem on a -10 single-fed line and reds double pumpers, car has been doing this for 2 years no problem...Knock=0 at 24lbs boost putting around 700 to the wheels in a full weight car. I do plan to do a cell & a Weldon external just because...but the current setup runs peachy with not 1 hiccup, don't be scared away...E85 is fantastic.

I know I know....been reading too many bench racer/builder threads lately online :P I ordered the Tr custom parts aluminum cell this morning. Cant wait to get it and fab it all up. My weldon is tired of being in a box on my bedroom floor :D Also ordered a few other parts so this weekend should be fun if it all gets here. I need something to do haha

Their probably is more concern in how your car is used/stored regarding corrosion. My car is a garage queen only brought out occassionally on a nice weekend (for a ZO6 spanking :))...If i was to have a GN sitting outside and driven everyday subject to any/all weather conditions I would probebly pay more attention to the corrosion factor. I forgot to mention the stock feed line is now the return line, I don't "love" this setup but it works and to get your feet off the ground, it will probably work for you too...I am changing my setup more for long-term insurance, not because it doesn't work...And FWIW, I have a brand new RobbMc fuel hat sitting here in my garage w/ a -10feed & -8 return that looks very well made, I decided to go the Cell route so it will never be installed but w/ my Weldon 2035, i highly doubt my pump couldn't have kept up with it.

My car sits out ion my backyard under a car port aluminum roof. I really don't drive it much, maybe 1-2 times a month around town or drive the track, but I try to atleast let her run for a few minutes every weekend morning. I get a lot of humidity under that roof, but I've never had a problem. If you plan on not driving the car for over a month, don't trust that fuel, plus it's cheap enough to just get some fresh gas don't risk it if it's been sitting for s while.

That is exactly what i was going to do...RobbMc hat w/ a weldon self primiming pump, PM me if your looking for the hat, Im not using mine...still in the box. Has a -10 feed side & -8 return.

shoot me a pm? is this not the way to go? figured with a self priming pump this would be the setup to have no?

I decided to do a cell in the trunk...so I don't need the hat anymore, main reason is it gives me a great spot to mount the Weldon.
