I know alot of folks hate talking about this subject. But for those who can help me please do so.
I fabbed up a intercooler and piping, everything's hooked up but am having a problem.
My car doesn't idle right and im guessing from the increased amount of air going into it. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to tune the car to get it to run correct.
I have all thr tuning tools from scanmaster to powerlogger but not an expert with them. It shows the car runing very lean lean on my o2 wideband and scanmaster.
Want to figure it out today or im going to have to put everything back which is about 30 min of work but really wanna see how it runs with the intercooler. Thanks
 
what chip are you running? i know when i i/c'd my 85 i had to have Turbo Tweak burn me a new chip for it........also had to tweak my fuel pressure a little and of course my boost level.....
 
I have an intercooler as well, I had TT burn a new chip I filled out the from telling all the mods my car was going to have. I have the 87 manifold and TB and 87 intercooler, I had no problems when I fired it up, idles fine. I have not had a chance to run it since it needs to registered its been sitting for over a year
 
please update when you can im about to inter cool my 85. and have the inter cooler and the piping i dont have the turbo yet. what turbo did you use. i also have a 87 comp in mine along with a tweak chip burned for the 85. please let me know how this goes again. im going to be taken this step as well.
 
Project just about done. Just need to powder coat tge pipes and intercooler. As far as running, better the ever. Much more power and lik if any turbo lag. Glad I did the change! Poat another pic when its complete

What all goes into the process for this I gave a buddy that has an 85 and is about to do some upgrades and mechanic told him he will convert the whole from hot air to intercooled and switch the turbo and headers and etc...
 
Just involves a lot of fabbing of pipes and fittings. Then tuning of coarse. Pays off at the end and runs much better
 
If you really want to improve the air flow . switch to the 87 intake when you convert to IC
 
doe the 87 intake fit our motors... with out changing the heads...
 
good to know... i also have gotten my car preped for intercooling... i have the 87 stock inter cooler and all the pipes fabed up. just trying to get my hands on a 87 stock turbo. posting up to the wanted thread now.
 
got my 87 turbo from here on the wanted section. now im going to step foward with this same set up. what more do i need to do....

i have a question wat is that line coming out of the intercooler pipe. and wats it connected to.
