Professional ceramic coating is the only thing really going to hold up. Could try some radiator paint rated up to 1200deg but that's still not resistant enough. Would probably hold but the color will fade, if that matters to you.

I did an HPC Aluminum but they only would allow it to be done to the outside and after 4k miles, it's a total waste of $$.

I'm finding a company that will do it both inside and outside locally this time so I don't piss away another $75.

Eastwoods manifold black works great.

just rub a little more on once it begins to burn away. for what it cost... i think its the bees knees.

If it has metallic in it . It will start to melt the metallic at 1200-1300.deg.
I don't care whose coating you use. Now that is metal temp. That is why if you read the fine print or ask they all say 1600 deg. EGT.

The only way I have got it to work semi long term is to put a thermal barrier on first. then the metallic top coat.

If you use the solid blacks/blues these coatings should go 2000 deg.
but like any coatings you have to prep the surface well. It is easy but
the most important.

Use 80-100 grit alum. oxide to clean the surface. After it is clean turn the pressure down to about 30 psi. and clean it again. You want it rough.
solvent wipe(mek) burn off the strings left from the rag. (Propane torch)
coat, remember these are thin film coatings, cure. If you are going to put on 2 coats lightly blast and wipe between coats........

And I would not coat the inside of the housing. Just use a thermal barrier under your top coat.

ttipe, just have the housings ceramic coated and be done with it the painted on stuff will not hold up and you will have to constantly recoat.

Ronnie you have a coating business, how do you guys get the housings to not rust out with only an external ceramic coating?
Hpc did mine in their Hyper Aluminum and it blows unlike the headers and DP they did for me which was inside and outside coated.

The internal coating probably has nothing to do with the failure on the
turbo housing. It was prep. on that piece.Or lack there of.

Are the headers or Dp cast?

Cast sucks. I am starting to use a prime or cermachrome under any cast then finish coat. Or I will not do it. It cost more. But cermachrome salt sprays like 10k hrs.

Headers are Poston mild steel and DP is Houston SS, both though are in and outside coated and look great. Turbo housing was only outside and looks like a$$.

I'm in need of some coatings on my Talon this summer, header, turbo house and DP so PM me with your info and let's hook up. ;)

This experiment is over a year old.

Polydyn.com, this is ALL you will need. They get it right the first time and will do outside and also inside if requested. My DBB exh. housing turned out Bad A$$! 4 maybe 5 different color coatings.
