Turbonetics 6965 ball bearing with .63 garrett housing on unopened block!! Your thoughts??
I do have the usual bolt on mods(see signature) I know its wayyy more turbo than I need but will it PERFORM!! THX

With a PTC 9.5" it won't be too and if leaving with boost. It would be a little lazy on the street. The garrett .63 isn't going to allow the turbine to work to its potential. Probably high tens/122-123 with the boost at 31-32psi using 116+ octane with the timing and fuel dialed in. I never rec more than a 57mm turbine for stock head applications unless it's a drag strip car. I can't see your signature on tapatalk. So PTC 9.5", low 30's boost, good fuel. Those will allow you to run it in and get some numbers out of it. I don't know what compressor it is but if it's a 69mm inducer it will likely get choked by a 65 turbine.

Thx Bison Im running David Huseks 9.5 3021 L/U and Alky along with supporting mods!! The turbo was at a great price so I walked into it!! If I can climb into the 11s Id be estatic :)

you shouldnt have any problem getting 11s with your current turbo (shows ta49 and alky in sig)

Thx pacecarta unfortunately I sold the ta49 yesterday!! I may sell the 6965 turbonetics and go with whatever bison suggests!! Decisions decisions?

Bison its the hpc 69 forged billet compressor wheel with an 8 bolt T cover FWIW!!

That's a lot of turbo to only run 11's

Your current mods and that 6262 would easily be 11s with traction.

Yeah im thinking turbonetics 6965 is goin for sale and 6262 is in order!!

You have put every bolt on part you can on your car. And I would not want to tear up an original motor with 36,000 miles on it but, if you are going to make some serious power you need to think about a forged rotating assembly in the block and port/polish on the heads and intake. Even with the 6262 you will be tearing up stock parts real fast.

Just sayin.....

Reggie I understand your concerns Im definately gonna rethink this not interested in opening up the block!! As I said the ta49 is sold so Im thinking replace it with something comparable with todays technology!! Thoughts on a comparable replacement would be GREAT!! Thx for posting!!

That turbo won't tear up the engine, the tune or a failure of a vital system like a fuel pump will. It will just not perform well on driving around on the street. Even a totally stock TB can blow a head gasket.

Why not contact Bison for a MFS 5957 Garrett ball bearing turbo c/w water cooled .63 A/R housing....;)

Yes I would do this^^^ or a 5858 before a 6262 with your stock heads...

I agree with 1KWIKSIX and V6sleeper.

I would also have a look at Comp Turbos 5857. You will get very quick spool with a triple ball bearing and that is with the stock heads.

Spool up is all about the stall speed on the converter and the right turbo combination.

Bison will not steer you wrong either. He is kind of like a savant of turbos with Turrets syndrome just for fun. Flame suit is on ;)

It's a total street car!! Maybe 3000 miles a year might be put on it!! I know I dont wanna tire shredder

Yeah Bison did recommend a 57mm turbine for the stock heads so im probably gonna go that route!! Cars a t top also so im thinking preservation!! I need to go faster ill buy something else to beat on lol!!
