The flow will only be as good as the smallest orifice. With a -8 on bottom of turbo and a -8 on the block, putting a -10 line between them is not gonna help.
No kidding , the restriction is the fitting and drain, I was looking at 30 degree push loks and the -10 AN billet drain fitting, not the 1/2" pipe thread.
All was well until the T66 pushed its way into things, now the factory line leaks. and yes the block is 1/2" MPT, just remove the brass adapter.
 
Using a -10 on the bottom of the turbo isn't going to make a difference either, still feeding to a -8 hole on the block. It'll just be a funnel.
I'm using -8 hose and fittings on a 6768HPQ, no issues.
 
If nothing else, -8 fittings will be cheaper and take up less room, need to scrounge my bins.
 
Yes that will ne the easy route for sure, I spent much more to make mine up
