I have a 78 GN. Had it about 3 weeks now. I did the Spring Cleaning already. It has been using oil so I did a compresion check and everything looks good. It has no leaks and it dosen't smoke. I bought new intake hoses and when I went to replace them I found oil inside the old ones. So I checked the play of the shaft and it looks good. No play at all. The car has been sitting for around 5 years or so before I bought it. He would drive it every 1 or 2 months but other then that it sat. Lucky if it got 50 miles a year on it. What I think is, it needs new seals in it. They dried out from setting? Does anyone know If there is a kit I can buy, To do it myself? It's all stock and I don't really want to go to a bigger turbo. I don't want to have to change all the injectors out to bigger ones. Would It be better to buy a used turbo and have it sent out for a rebild? That way I can still drive the car a little. Who should I send it too? Is there anything I can have done to the stock turbo to make it more efecent without haveing to change the injectors? I don't mind putting on a adjustable fuel regulator and a new higher flow pump with the hotwire kit. Was planning on doing that anyway. The upgrades I have done so far is. I have put on a ram air kit upgraded the intake hoses ported the bell, 160 stat and bypast the water to the throtle body. I'm planning on a 2 1/5" down pipe with 3" cat to 3" pipe and a flowmaster replacement muffler.

I have that happen at times also!:)

If the car/turbo is not smoking, leave it alone. An upgrade from the stock turbo is basically another turbo.

A fuel pump and hot wire kit is a good upgrade even for street driving.

My opinion is you should continue with maintaince items and in the meantime become more familiar with your car. Too many owners jump into mods that offer no gain for what is expected, and just spend $$$. In stock form, with simple add-ons, the car wil perform great as compared to most "performance" cars.

Forget the Flowmaster though, go with a Hooker cat back system. Best exhaust for the money.

The reasion I was going with the flowmaster is. I can bild my own tail pipes. I have a manderel bender and I happen to have a new flowmaster in the box made for a 3rd generation camero. Looks like its made the same way the stock muffler is made. So the only money I'll be out is the cost of the pipe and the new 3" cat. But if the 2 1/2" duel pipes are more effective. I can go that way also. I'll just have to buy mufflers.

Oh, buy the way thanks for your advice. I'll go with what you sugjest. I'm haveing a ball with this car. The more I play with it, The better it runs. Its just my street toy. Just replacing all the vacume lines and a good tune up did wonders. I got it from a friend of mine that bought it in 88 from a repo company. I was with him when he first looked at it and when he decided to sell I was right there before he could change his mind. What would you sugjest for differant add ons that would make noticable differance with out really hurting the reliabilaty of the car. Something that I don't have to go into the motor or something that wouldn't show to much from stock. The ram air kit is the one that adds onto the stock air cleaner then goes down to a factory looking scoop. If someone dident know better it looks like a stock unit. I like things to look that way. They make a K&N filter that goes in to the factory housing, is it worth the money? Or is a good paper filter just as good. Thank you agian for your advice. D/T

You should use a muffler with no baffles, i.e. straight through. Duals are mainly used.

Good luck and have fun with your new toy!:)
