Turbo replacement

Stock 87 TR mild mods boost gauge is only showing about 5-7 lbs boost WOT and blowing a little white smoke after driving coming to stop then restart smokes little, could turbo be bad? if yes whats best way to go about it rebuild what I have or go with a upgrade? Thanks

bump for you. white is usally water (maybe headgasket) hows the plugs? also intercooler hoses good? whats been done to the car? spring cleaning? we need more info.

Mods are only no cat, 2 1/2" S.S. exhuast, tt chip. i had cracked manifolds when i had turbo off car welding cracks noticed the turbine looked to be chewed up and since I put back on I have this smoke thing going on and plugs are good even put new opnes in when I pulled to check, intercooler hoses ok, nothing in oil so far. I thought maybe if play in turbine can cause smoke.

turbo could cause smoke. if the blades are chewed up send it in or get a new turbo.

Can anyone help me? If i need to replace stock 87 turbocharger whats a good match, size, style,. brand, wastegate, boost controller? Car is stock just chip and exhaust

te44/ta49 are proven turbos for a stock ride. you can also go with a gt 6131E which should still work ok with the stock d5. i would call precisionturbo.net and talk to them. they will set you up for what you need.
