so i got my car back on the road with the new billet input drum. i`m a little curious about the tv adjustment. if i adjust it the way that it is all the way in when i´m full throttle the car won´t shift into 2nd and 3rd at all, it just starts slipping and i need to rev it really high and then the next gear bangs in. if i adjust it the way the tranny manual tells me (2 clicks release from all the way in) the 1-2nd shift is like it should but 2-3rd still slips and is a rough shift. if i get the cable loose another 2 clicks it shifts through the gears like it should with no slipping and nice and hard shifts but i´m afraid that there is something wrong and that i´m gonna toast the tranny because of wrong line pressure....

thanks,
pat

get a gauge and all but leave the TV cable where ever it goes through the gears the best. With how old the TV cables are now the "GM" procedure rarely works for me, especially if its a stock car that hasn't been rebuilt. The pump is weaker and more TV is needed to get everything closer to how it should be. Don't get on it either with it too loose as this will burn up clutches even if its only a couple of times.

There is only one correct setting for the TV cable. It should max out the cable at the instant the car is at full WFO. If it is any less than that you run the risk of burning it up. If it is any tighter you are not getting true WOT. If you feel you need an extra click or two you can add one of those spring things (sonnax part number AS1-01K) to boost the part throttle shifts without affecting WOT. The right way to play with shifts is a shift kit but I have one of the spring things on mine and it's a good way to half @ss it without getting messy. you can play with the length and stiffness of the spring to put the TV cable on a different curve and play with part throttle shifts that way. Hope this helps.
