Well I like the car, and the SHO has a decent track record. Only problem I remember is the 1st gens had tranny issues.
You guys see all the features? Its got the Sync, speaker phone, gps and all sorts of other gizmos.
I can't buy one new. Too much $$$. But I will seriously look at a used one down the line.
What kinda engine tweaks do you guys think we will be able to do?
Staggered turbos? More boost? Maybe a rwd setup like the Evo guys?

Looks pretty cool to me. A high school classmate of mine had a new one in the early 90's and it was a blast...

I wonder how it would compare with a G8?

I do like the ford styling better

Pete

Yeah, but nowadays, Ford is producing the BEST cars and trucks, whether you like it or not, period! GM has completely lost everyone's favor and confidence and Chrysler....well, I won't even comment...

Claude. :)

You don't work on them for a living, I do. My favorite thing about the 3 valve triton is the fact that when you try to remove the spark plugs they break off in the engine:eek: , then there's the diesel 6.0 that kills injectors all day at $600 a pop. (not joking) Or the ground problems the cars have which screws up the puter, or ptfe problem on ALL of the gasoline models. We get GM in but by large most are dodge and ford that we repair. How about since Christmas I've done 10 head jobs because of blown gaskets and the last one is a 4.7 dodge with a total of 56k on the ticker. I have very few problems with GM cars as a rule but as far as the others that's where we make our money. I can get ROs for you if you want so I can prove it.

Not picking on you, I've just spent my fair share of time driving camry's and was less than impressed for a car that is less than a year old. Does your Camry wander on the road at highway speeds, like all the others? They ALL left the factory with the wrong alignment specs....every one!!! Now, "T" passes that alignment info on the aftermarket alignment shops and they are still off...nice. Don't even get me started on the massive transmission failures the new body launch had.

The domestic VS import playing field is leveling out. TRUST me, the big Japanese manufactures will continue to see/allow quality to slip as the auto industry slides down. The big 3 are doing everything they can to catch up...it will be a fun game to watch. My auto stock investments will continue to remain with GM and F period.

I was just using Camry as a sample. I have 2 imports that I love because they don't ever cost me a dime. I have a Honda Accord EX I use for work and I have a Toyota Highlander Limited for the weekends. I love them both more then any American car I ever owned. I too was mister "all American" over the years and have soured of that and I don't give a $hit who makes it anymore. If it does what I want it to do and don't cost me an arm and a leg over the years I'm all about it! I'll pay $40K for a car that will last. This SHO is not going to last no matter how you look at it.

Oh BTW keep a close eye on that GM stock. It closed today at $2.27 a share!!

It's your opinion, but I for myself, will never own a "pos" import. The automobile has always been an "American religion" and it's not the Japanese or the Europeans who will teach us how to build cars. The new Taurus' appearance is a matter of taste, some people will like it, some others not, but you just cannot please everybody, plain and simple.
Claude.

Some get lucky Claude I guess :) I bought a new explorer for my 70 year old mother who drives like a 70 year old! I traded that roach in 8 years later with 60K easy miles on it. 2 transmissions and all kinda other bull$hit that $hit box put me thru. I could never ever get the AC to blow cold all summer and have it last over the winter and blow cold again the following summer. It was always in the dealer for something. And yes.. sadly en ought.. it is the Japanese or the Europeans who will teach us how to build cars. You can't touch German built cars. There is just no comparison there. The sad part this is one of those things you could argue points back and forth over and over and still get no where. I just go with what works. I gave Ford a change many many times over my years of driving. New and used and everyone f*cked me over and over till I went jap! So I'm never looking back! :D

I wonder whats the first thing thats gonna go wrong with it?

I can bet you any amount of money the transmission will be the weak link here. Ford always made a $hit transmission! I went thru MANY of them over the years from daily driving and general maintenance no less!

Taraus and CD4E is all I can remember about the failures of Ford transmissions. I have rebuilt a few and they are doomed from the start. I would not drop that kind of money on one anyways. Not sure if the trans can hold up.

GM stock is up over 75% from just a few months ago. Give it a few years, they'll be stamping out $$$ all day long. We'll see.

A 3.5 liter V6 twin turbo that Ford promises will deliver V8 power with V6 economy? I'm sorry but didn't another car maker do the same thing with 1 turbo 22-25 years ago?

Uhhh......hehe.....uuhh....ummmm .........You said "head job" and "blown" in the same sentence! ;)

I showed my wife the pics of the Taurus and she asked "TOURTISE?....is that what you said? So now I have a new name for the Ferd......The SLO Tourtise Err.....I mean SHO Taurus:biggrin:
If the block integrity is good, and the heads are held on with six bolts/cylinder, it would be a BLAST to whoop up on EVO kids. De-badge it and put AVIS plate frames on it. Avis stickers would help, too.;) Couple of roller bearing turbos, alcohol, and a bigger intercooler. Not sure how to mod the injectors though. Might have to swap in some Duramax injectors. Direct injection might be tough to improve flow with. (Direct injection sounds too close to Direct Connection....and we all know that means M-O-P-A-R!) Direct injection might be fun to tweak. We'll soon see. (IF O'Bama doesn't FIRE all the US CEO's. He'll hire a bunch of WEENIE CEO's -who cheated on thier taxes-that use to build solar panels and start REQUIRING the OEM to STOP gasoline car production. Just wait.........it COULD happen. )

The AWD V6 version weighs in at 3800 lbs. I can imagine the SHO is gonna come in at a "svelte" 2 tons.

It's gonna need every one of those 365 horses to move this porker.

$38K to start, ouch.

I had a '95 manual SHO. Stock for stock, it consistently trapped higher than my Regal. E.T. was about a second slower but it pulled like a raped ape once it got rolling. I wouldn't mind another one of the same style as a run about but I'll not buy another new one.

it looks like a camry, twin turbo and 365 h.p.n/a v8's make more it should have at least 500

Definatly looks like a big car. I predict breaks warping in no time :D, and transmission problems. It might be decent but who knows

who did that?

we were on the gnx list for around 45k

our 94 code 86 was 18k brand new

I heard rumors of someone paying that much.
I will not say the owners's name because it is his business.
