I've had good results with a Pat's Performance Converters 1202XHD. Works fine for my level.

I sent them the info on my car and will see what I get for a reply. I have a 9.5 PTC in with the overdrive now and am not happy with it. It stalls at 2800-3000 now and is not effective in making the car leave with my combo. My previous 3500 stall converter gave me better 60fts with less boost for half the price. Big end slip was in the low to mid 20% range so I opted for the PTC. Big end slip went down like 18% but the launches were still slower at higher boost. I'm going to send it back next month for a restall but if the UCC price is attractive I will just sell it and try that one. I spoke with Dusty and he says the looser he makes it the more it may slip up top. I want it to be like 800 rpm looser. I foot brake it too.

Loosening the converter is probably all you need. A really loose converter which is what you have with 20% slip will naturally leave harder on less boost because the rpm is so much higher for a given boost pressure.

Other the PTC who makes a good converter? Has anyone ever uesd CK Performance converter and if so how good are they?

we have used PTS's 9/11 LU converter.. Works great ! You can even lock it up at the track !! 138+ mph

Dan, how often do you change the thrust bearings in that motor ? Seriously, the pressure must be really hard on the thrust at that HP level ? Never heard of anyone surviving at that level locking up for many passes in a row. BTDT, bottom 10's by a top notch 200-4R builder. Trans was fine, thrust bearing...not so much...

Not many guys talk about it, but at 130 mph + there are risks to consider witha l/u.

NEVER had a problem with the motor . Has to have 20k+ miles on it. It's coming apart soon to check it out again before I use it in the Mazda. We took it apart at about 10k. Everything was fine.. I thought the problems were more with a 400 trannys  Needless to say everything thing we own has a LU in it.. I can't stand the revving goin up a hill with a non LU. Drives me crazy an we all know I don't have far to go.

A local speed shop recommended them, and the guys on YB.com seem to love them.
Anyone tried them with a TB?

I have a local car here with one of Lenny's converters in it. If you do a search here on the board you will see where I posted about it. It seems to work very well, on the street, for the cars combination. The car has not been let loose on the track though.
