Unwanted Pop-Ups!

Lately I have been getting a ton of unwanted pop-ups while online.I have a good virus protection system running but,lately these stupid pop-ups have introdsuced themselves to my system.I'm running windows XP.Anyone else experience this?,or more importantly know how to stop them?

Pop-ups? What's that? Get Firefox and Adblock Plus. No pop-ups and no ad's. Can't remember the last time I got a pop-up.....

Man, I haven't had popup problems in years. Make sure you are running IE7 and have the popup blocker turned on. As mentioned, also go the firefox route. I always try to have both browsers on my piddling work stations. If you haven't done so, at least run XP SP2 that's when popup blocking came down in a service pack.

You may also have some adware installed on your computer which allows the popups. I hope you're running some good virus/adware programs to keep that from happening.

Firefox with ABP FTW! I've never been so pleased that an extension worked so well. Its great. I also run Ad Aware and Spybot S&D, and they work great at taking out the garbage.

Thanks for the input guys.I found out that some adware had been installed when my daughters downloaded the newest vesion of MSN.I deleted them,and installed Firefox.Seems my problem is solved.Thanks again.Dave
