I just almost got scammed, and I just drove 1100 miles towing a trailer, lost two days of my life.

Car is on ebay now http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...m=280001783074&ih=018&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT.

Dan is a POS old man trying to scam.

Car has well over 150,000 miles. The car fax shows it being sold in 1993 with a dmv milage of 127,xxx .

In 1996, the car was in an accident, case# 0960703272 in the state of montana.

Dan is trying to sell it as an original car with 53,000 and new paint.
The car has all the paint rubbed off the turn signal lever, seat belts look like they are from a 500,000 mile car, motor runs poor, egr is all gunked up, three poorly installed seat covers, and one original on the pass side. bad recovered steering wheel, pieces showing more wear and tear than i've ever seen in a car, like the knobs, button on back of drivers seat ripped off, door handles ugly, door panel plastic cracked, he just installed a new windshield to hide the milage better, he installed the new brake pedal pad also.

Nice try A-hole!! you cost me big bucks and more important, time.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!!!!!!

Scott

Steering wheel had 1/2 turn of free-play. the car felt like it was going to fall apart on the 25MPH test we had around the block. Door windows sounded like a piece of bubble gum was holding them in place, wrong trunk lid (I saw the old crap parts in the back of his house!! Old winshield, two bent GN rims, taillight housing, ugly ugly door sill plates, etc...

I am ready to spill the blood!!

GKMOZ...you are a discrace to the buick world. Go jump off a bridge please!

hay turbo2nr, i assure you i had nothing to do with this guy. all i did was call him to ask how much his reserve was set for. it was out of my price range so i left it at that. i thought i would post my findings so someone else could benifit from it. so i would appreciate an appology from you. i have never scammed anyone and never will.....

Sorry bro. I let my anger run a little wild. I was mad at everybody.

The key word was "MAY be involved". I know Gary was, but I'm sorry to include others. My fault. Sorry.

No problem bro...I feel your pain...I would be very pissed also...You have to look at the fuel, toll money plus all your time wasted!! Ive have done it a few times myself. But not that far!! People like that need an a$$ kicking.

My dad is a doctor, and I own a medical business and have two kids, wife, no spare time.

This was the biggest waste of time in my whole life. I really hope the seller, Dan, dies a slow, painful death, very soon.

He lied to me and my dad on the phone about everything. I told him I knew my chit. He must not have believed me. He let us drive all the way up there for nothing!

I will never forget what you did, Dan.

Carfax is a good guide but it's not perfect! Sounds like next time you'll spring for it  I really don't get how some people can think they can pass off a POS on ebay. I love it when a link is posted here and the car can be evaluated. Sometimes its a car that people know and vouch for, other times is a nice car nobody knows and sometimes it's a mess. Seems about 50/50 chance that a POS is from a "musclecar dealer" too. It's definately a crapshoot.

I hear ya. Work in a small lab, ie; only ft tech. I work like I do own the lab, maybe someday I will...

I don't trust Car Fax for the simple facts that I was the 3rd owner of my 85 GN, I went to high school with the original owner and a good friend of mine was the 2nd owner. They said that since I purchased the car, 5 others have owned it. It never left my posession physically or otherwise. I have all registrations for every year and they refused to answer my questions about this.

When I bought my white 85 T, (3rd owner also) it had an original 56,xxx miles and the DMV lady didn't think that was possible and changed the title to 88,888 to say "excessive mileage" and I lost a sale because of this. This too was an original unmolested car and the overall condition of the car showed it. Not a squeek or rattle or interior rip or tear. They said this car had been totalled at one time in its life.

Who is to say that their sources are truthfull also???

I don't trust people either but I invite people to check it out first. Send someone in the area. Ask anyone around where I live what kind of reputation I have for my work.

Excellent point about CARFAX. I personally will never use it. It's just as full of mistakes as any other method.
My 86 is a prime example. I'm the original and only owner, and I was very surprised to see it show up on CF with cautions about oddometer rollback, and having it's smog checks done in places I've never heard of, let alone ever been there.
After thinking about it for a while I figured out why the oddometer discrepencies.
Seems that the idiots at some of the smog stations didn't bother to ask whether there should be a 1 in front of the visible mileage, they just assumed otherwise, so several spots in it's history show 5 digit mileage instead of 6.

CF refused to fix anything without a mountain of documented proof, so I just told them to FOA&D.
My 87 shows similar discrepencies.
As does my 84 Z28, which again, I am the original and only owner.

CARFAX can go straight to hell as far as I'm concerned.
