Carfax has a strong policy. They buyback you car, or something like that if they are wrong. They would be out of business if they sucked that bad.

I've bought and sold a lot of totals (flood, theft, collision) and Carfax picks them all up. For what it costs it's worth running the VIN just to be sure.

For your information, CARFAX sucks !

I am a car dealer and none of the auctions nation wide rely on their data. They all use and go by AUTOCHECK for accurate information.

As for the mileage information on a car there are many ways to verify it's legitimacy.
1-DMV
2-Dealer service records
3-Warantee records
4-Maintanance records
5-Insurance companies
6-State inspection records
7-Tire company records
8-Prior owners
ETC.,ETC.,ETC.

Carfax will only back information supplied to them by the source they get it from....if the information is wrong and that's how it was sourced to Carfax....TUFF $HIT !!!

I have seen every kind of mistake on titles you could imagine, and I've seen my share of alterations also.

My suggestion to anyone buying a car on E-BAY.......DON'T !!!
Why the hell anyone would bid on something that's a days drive away from them is beyond me !
Shop in your own area where you can....LOOK, TOUCH, SMELL and FEEL the damn car. You also have easy access to information in your own state.

Deals that appear to good to be true are just that......USE THIS EXPERIENCE AS A LESSON LEARNED. Move on.

It's the same thing. Most people just know the carfax name. I used AutoCheck, from Experian Automotive. It is used thru Ebay. I don't know if you can use it without going thru Ebay. I'm a newbie to this car checking stuff. Give me a break guy.

I just want to say that I was at Dan's home yesterday and saw the car that is being talked about here. I don't know Dan, but this car did not look bad at all. The car has 54K miles, not 54. Minor imperfections have to be expected on any car.

The car has well over 150,000 miles. I can prove it, and it looks like it, and it drives like it. Yes, it has a nice paint job, that's about it. Are you a turbo-regal expert? Have you ever owned a TR?? Did you bother looking inside??

Did you drive the car?? It drives like a POS!!! That's because it has AT LEAST 150,000 miles, maybe 250,000.

It is illegal to sell a car trying to pass it as a low milage car when it's not. I did see a board member give it thumbs up. That's why I was interested. I will post plenty of info when it comes my way. The car was wrecked. The milage was completly wrong. Maybe when you grow up and have kids and own a business, you'll see how important two days can be. I have very very little spare time. I can't believe you guys are on his side. He tried to scam!
