When I ordered a new pump for my Alky system Julio stayed on the phone with me to make sure I had everything on my car hooked up right. I just bought the car and didn't have much knowledge on how the system worked. He had me unhook my voltage booster. Not sure which one I have but it's a little round canister right behind the alternator. I unhooked it.

Sounds like Red's volt booster from your description!! I still have his booster on with my Alky Control Kit...In my opinion there are just too many guys running both with no issues to for me to take it off!! Why drop voltage to my fuel pump in fear of spraying too much alky??? It has an adjustable knob on it!!

with the meth gauge you can clearly see that the volt booster has a strong effect on the alky pump.

It also has that same effect on your fuel pump which is why people run em'....

I was just thinking what if you had an older alky pump that needed to be rebuilt soon and was starting to drop pressure.. The added voltage could help in that case depending on how much drop your pump was seeing...I guess in the case of a new alky pump the added voltage would be possibly to aggresive maybe requiring you to turn the knob down a bit!! Also not everyone running a volt booster is seeing the same voltage at WOT close maybe, but not the same...Now take the guy with the older alky pump who is seeing voltage on low side for running a v. booster and all of sudden the volt booster is no longer a hendrence.....I suppose what I'm getting at is with most of this car stuff we deal with different variables thus most of us see varying results....IDK probably over thinking the whole thing???

Well I hooked mine up yesterday and took it for a ride and all I can say is that it works great even with the alky and I have a new aky pump installed.

The volts went to 16.8/17.1 and car felt fine. I turned my alky down from 5/6 to 3 before boosting so I wouldn't dump meth and run rich but it still ran rich in the 10.50/10.80 range.

I was running 11.3/11.5 before the volt booster [with no KR] and will have to start tuning all over again, but I'm leaving it on at least for awhile and thinking that my F/P might be weak as it's six years old and the added voltage may be helping mask a weak pump even though it is making good pressure even without the V/B.

Or more than likely both the F/P and A/P are raising the pressures and I have no problems at all.

I will look at logs of before and after when I get my P/L back in the car.

I was looking at pics from Bowling Green last year that some board members posted and in many of the engine pics you can see reds old volt booster . :confused:These cars are faster than mine so I left it in and have had no issues with my alchy however I have only had the alchy for one summer:)

Agreed. Learn how the variables interact and tune YOUR car accordingly.

Funny how i was called an idiot by a guru from another board for saying that i would tune around the V-Booster.
Mean while everyone is doing just that and it seems to be working just fine.
The guru that you've never met and know nothing about could be known as the village idiot where he comes from.

As far as Gurus go that word is overused a lot especially on the net. Nobody knows everything and even if they know one thing well they still don't know it all.

I also think that everyone has a little village idiot in them also as we all have our talents and weakness's that set us apart.

Everyone has a brain fart some time. Doesn't seem like tuning out the extra alky at WOT would be that hard.

I agree as it only took me a few blasts to get it back in the range I'm used to.

I also agree that the added voltage helps the spark as the car is smoother now on the boost.

Does anyone sell the boost ( Reds ) activated volt booster any more ?

David Husik at TURBO BUICK PERFORMANCE.COM in the vendor section sells them as far as I know.
