My volt light started to flicker. ONLY when I hit some bumps in the road. It DOES light up when I turn the ignition on at first. The lights (headlights and dash) dim when the light comes on. It only flickers on (less than 1 second). The SM cycles between 13.2-14.1 volts, so I guess it is happening so quickly that the SM doesn't read it.
Going to take the dash apart and clean connections and buy a new bulb and see what happens. I tried to wiggle some wires off of the alternator and it did not flicker at all:confused:

Check the bulb and also check your wire on the starter going to the alt. I had a similar situation on a GN once and some bone head at one point did a crap crimp ring terminal on the wire and it was barely in and making crap connection.
It would flicker as you describe as well

If you dont have caspers field fix harness yet, ide get one now. Dont let that light cause you a bigger issue down the road. If the bulb burns out or has a poor connection then alternator wont chage the battery.

How easy is it to put in?

Check your alt wire to the battery...

Mine was doing the exact same thing... turned out the red 10 gauge wire that runs from the alternator to the positive battery post was contacting my GN1 headers and the insulation burned through, and when the car hit a bump just right, a few strands of the charging wire would short against the header. Look over that wire for a short/bad connection/broken spot. Drove me nuts before I figured it out finally. Good luck.

Anywhere from 30seconds to 5 minutes depending on how long it takes you to read the directions... Plugs into factory waste gate sylenoid on the passenger valve cover and plugs into the back of the alternator. Directions are thorough and it will be quick and easy.

before I knew about the field fix harness, I spent a week chasing the voltage flickering light problem. Wondering why the car had low voltage after a few miles with 2 new batteries and an alternator that tested fine. Tested alternator twice...Ide hit a bump and get low volts, make a turn and voltage was normal. I was losin my mind cleaning already clean battery terminals and such.
ide probably recommend it as the 1st or 2nd mod to every TR.

I second the field fix. It is a must have for these cars. Trust me I popped a head gasket when the dash light went bad on mine.

Went to the garage on Sunday and now the volt light bulb is totally out and won't go back on. I put a good bulb in and no luck. Just ordered the Casper's Field fix and audible knock detector. Will keep everyone posted.

Thanks all.

Casper's Field Fix Harness did the trick. Does not get anymore Plug N Play than this. Volts are at 13.5-14.1 at Scanmaster. John makes some really NICE product.

So what exactly "fails" that the field fix "fixes"? Bad wire in the wiring harness? I understand if the dash bulb burns out, this will by pass the bulb, but if a new bulb still doesn't work, wouldn't it be advisable to fix the wire to the bulb?
