Well this isn't turbo Buick powered but it is turbo so I figure ya'll can atleast appreciate it more than my big block breathren.

I have a friend who is big in to WRX's and I can't blame him, they are fast and very capable little cars. The handling preformance is amazing compared to just about anything I've driven. However I can do without the bugeye look and that ricer wing and hood scoop. I've always liked the 2Gen Corvairs styling but thier drivetrains have been yawn, even the turbo spyders. I was thinking take the entire suspension and driveline of a WRX and stuff it into a Corvair. The track widths are simular and while the front suspension is modular I don't know if the rear control arms mount to the differental or a secondary structure around it. Either way you could take the back suspension and run some nice big meats on there and squeeze the front suspension in about an inch per side and you'd have it fitting under there nicely. Turbo flat-4, AWD, and all the nifty little things you get from a WRX drivetrain without the crappy body styling. Anyway was just thinking outloud.

Enjoy your day,

Was there a question in there?.
If that'd make you happy, then go ahead and do it.

I'm not a Subby Fan, but, like I said, if it's what you want to do, do it.

there was a 455 corvair at nats, it was just the body though it was on a regal chassis it was yellow. i did not get any pics maybe someone did though.

That would be something to see. Get a decent writeup with it and you'll have more hybrid bretheren runnin' around with you beating up on "rice." :D

Not as much of a question as I work with a bunch of people that care nothing about cars and that idea has been bouncing around in my head for about the last week or so and I finally couldn't take it anymore so I wanted to put it out for fellow gearheads to see. In someways I wish I was working in a custom car shop type job but then again, I don't think I'd be quite as enthusiastic about this stuff then. I once heard that take the 2 favorite things to do in life and make the second one your job and your first your hobby. Well I like science so I ended up as a Physicist and since the Air Force doesn't exactly know what to do with them, I'm filling the job halfway between engineer and scientist so its a great compromise possition. Anyway, I like the idea just don't have enough money for my current project, much less one with serious fabrication involved.
Thanks for being my gearhead outlet guys,
