So what your saying is that the pump I have right here out of my car that CLEARLY has YOUR ENGRAVING "RX 07/04" is not yours??
He clearly stated that he hasn't bought any of these pumps since Jan 05. This means he is saying that your pump could be one of his.

Jack from ALL the threads on this issue it was NEVER posted anywhere stating they were only going to honor this recall going back one year!

Trust me when I say this, I literally read Every thread page by page and seen Nothing where this one year thing was mentioned.

Walbro Fuel Pump Update

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you know I have been in contact with Walbro High Performance regarding the failure of some fuel pumps. Thanks to the cooperation of the Turbo Buick community using the pumps you sent in Walbro was able to identify a problem with some of the F2000169 fuel pumps. By taking the pumps apart and putting each part on the assembly line to be installed in new pumps (a very time consuming process) it was determined that a small plastic plug inside the pump near the inlet can come loose in certain conditions causing an internal leak and a loss of pressure. Without your help finding this problem would not have been possible. It is due to the inlet design of this pump and caused by a slightly out of spec part from a US supplier. Walbro has agreed to exchange all F2000169 pumps working or not to remedy this problem. They have asked me to extend their apology and thanks for the support through the years. They fully intend to make good on these pumps. The offending part is going through a priority redesign right now and I am working with the performance engineer to come up with a suitable solution we can apply right away so we do not have to wait until that is done. In the next few days we should have a plan in place and I will post a method so you can send these pumps and we can get them exchanged. So far I have received 16 pumps (not very many) and I have records of who sent them in they will be first to get new units. Once again this ONLY applies to the F2000169, no problems have been found with other units. Both Walbro and I regret any inconvenience this has caused and will get the pumps replaced as quickly as possible. Walbro is proud to be the most cost effective (while still being one of the best) US MADE high performace in tank fuel pump solutions available.

WHERE DO I NEED TO SEND MY PUMP PLEASE?

Scot W.

Scot- Walbro told me they will only warrant pumps made in 2008. Some good info here:

The latest info on the exchange program is posted here, http://www.fullthrottletech.com/walbro.html (we have also placed a link on our main page) Walbro has now tested many pumps and have a date range nailed down. Any pumps (regardless of date code) that were sent to us prior to today that exibit this problem will be exchanged as I posted/promised eariler. From today forward they must follow the plan made by Walbro. Any returned pumps that do not follow the plan will not be exchanged. I am including a replacement strainer with every exchanged pump to help with reinstallation. I will be getting pumps in Monday or Tuesday, at that point all pumps returned to us that tested bad or were new will be exchanged including the original test group. Thanks you for your patience and understanding.

Mike,

Could you please recheck the link. The link does not work.

Thanks.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I got my new replacement fuel pump from Mike @ Full Throttle last week after sending him my defective pump. Thanks Mike!

Hello Mike,

I sent in a couple of pumps a few weeks back an haven't heard anything. Is there a time frame we should wait on before we call to check on status?

It was before I saw this post had gone further and you had posted details on date codes, etc. So, I don't know what the date codes were. The pumps were brand new bought early 2008.

Thanks,
John Nguyen

Nothing like bringing up an old Walbro thread, I've always said. Will be installing my replacement pump (date code 24106...241st day of 2006). Has anybody had a replacement pump fail? Should I be nervous? I have to replace my gas tank due to a leak, so I figured I would replace the pump too. The car has 190k miles on it. I bought it with 130k miles. Not sure if the pump in the tank is original or not, but first owner never mentioned replacing it. I only added a hotwire when I bought the car. How long have you guys had the stock pump last?

Correction- I just checked and the pump in there now is a 340M from Racetronix. Date scratched on the pump is 7/02. I think I will leave it alone. I'll just change the strainer.

Is their still a recall on the walbro pump. My car being in the shop for 3 yr and still has the walbro pump in it.

Good question...just found out the dying pump in my car was a F2000169 I bought in Feb 2008, not sure where the date code is but under the part number it reads "15807-2 Made in USA" then under that it reads "PAT 4500270 5421306.

If your car has been in the shop for 3 years, I would be more concerned about getting a new mechanic, LOL...

But I would consider that the pump warranty would be more then out of date by now. I felt that the situation I went through was not adequate customer service, therefore I would not expect this to be even close to being covered. But hey, maybe by me saying this - they may do take care of it.

Good luck ! The new Walbros are supposed to be good to go and I have not heard any further problems. The Denso pumps have been doing well and the racetronix modified versions of Walbor are hitting hard as well as Reds pumps. Just some ideas of alternate routes if desired.

I'm getting a new double pumper. Checking my fuel filter @ reg. Yeah I missed off on this one. Shop was playing games with my trans.

Looks like day 158 of 2007 and I would say that is in the defective date range. I don't think you will get it replaced by warranty, but it will not hurt too much to ask. It will matter where you purchased from, and if it is me asking, LOL... I know that my days of purchasing from a certain supporting vendor are over - along with a couple others that have had some of the good old fashion crappy service they have a tendancy to share.

I do hope the best for the circumstance !

Beamer I purchased the pump from gbodyfarts. I've already PMed Brian about it since he posted in another post a few years back if anyone had one that he sold that went belly up he wanted to know about it. I've also contacted Walbro about this and am waiting for their response.

Sadly the answer is no. I received a confirmation from Peggy at Walbro today on this matter.

So if your F20000169 pump just died on you, you're out of luck. Though I noticed on mine it would maintain 40 psi of fuel safely. Perhaps the pump can be used on a vehicle that doesn't have a turbo? Just a thought.

Damn got to get a new one now. Car 02 sensor are right where they need to be. still got knock on guage with turbo blue is it. Changing the fuel filter @ pump, next it's the regulator.
