It is time to update my signature yet again fellas. I kinda fell off the radar for a while due to me having a new project to work on.

I have installed a 86/7 intake on my car with a modified IC doghouse.

I had to change accelerator cable, extend the tps wiring and change the arrangement, extend the iacv wires. Get an 86/7 bypass hose and an upper radiator hose.

So here are the pictures....

More pics....

I know the Powerplate is basically worthless after modifying the plenum, but I think the plate may kinda direct the air in a beneficial way. The change after the install was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY better driveability and idle. I had to actually feather the gas when I started the car prior to the intake change. I now just have to turn the key and the car starts and runs perfect.

I also added a 62MM steve monroe tb to the mix to make flow a little better.

Another added feature is the turbo sneeze after letting off the throttle.

If you have any questions or comments I'm open. Just wanted to show the community what has been going on in my garage.

So I've been thinking is my car a modified hotair or an IC motor with a different turbo location?

Thanks guys..

And I may have a set of headers in the next 2 months for you to try Jerry. Just need to get new flanges for it so I can put it together finally. Looks good and I hope to see it in person soon.

Cool will try to get a baseline...

I need to get a little seat time with my TT 6.0 to figure out what parameters are a safe starting point.

I may fiddle with it a little tomorrow with timing way backed off (TT race chip). I need to see kinda where the base fuels need to be set so I can write the numbers down and start a tune log. Of course it will not really be on race gas with less timing than the track, but it will give me a conservative place to start.
My new PLX wideband seems to be working awesome and the car cruises around a 14.8 A/F which is spot on what the ecm is commanding for the A/F.

Have a good one guys and get out there and work on your cars!!!

Very cool, I'd call it an optional highmount turbo IC car.

I work til 4 so if you feel like it come up for a visit. Lunch at 12 and we've got some good places to eat. I wouldn't mind dinner either. You and dad, my treat.

What is it?

I'd say it's a modified hot air car since everything else is stock location.

Not an HA turbo on there Nice. I'd like to see some video on this engine running please.

I'd say it's a modified hot air car since everything else is stock location.

Just the turbo charger and hot pipes, the rest is is not like an HA engine at all save for ignition and a few others.
It's a super cool idea and I haven't seen this done yet except for this one so it's pretty interesting.

Nice work. IMO, I would get rid of the RJC Power plate. The modded upper plenum is distributing the air totally different than what is did when stock, and the powerplate isn't going to work correctly. I would remove the EGR tower from the plenum too.

See my signature. I have been running for years with
a modified upper plenum and 86 intake and an IC.
Setup looks like yours and it sure works great.
Now if we just had some good headers!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah next time I have plenum off...

I will definitely remove the egr thing from the plenum and the egr passage is filled in the intake.

Thanks for the compliments will work on the videos tommorrow.

Nope...

Got put back on the schedule. We are very short on man power (7 people with two very new red shirts). We are supposed to have another red shirt, but he had a wreck and is in ICU even before his first day.

I'm gonna take the requested videos of the car, and then work on the TT 6.0 tune. Need to adjust base fuel and take a couple more degrees of timing out to be a conservative street tune.

Well that explanes why you didn't come up for dinner then. We're running short on hours and people right now so I understand. I'm off Monday and Friday if you and the family are free. I need to come down to the new yard this week to find a few parts for a co-worker. Rats ate his wiring harness on the jeep. LOL

Some videos...

This first video is before the intake swap and tells a little about the mods done to the motor.

The next video is a completely cold start after the intake swap.

The final video is again of the motor running basically taken back to back with the first video.
