Where do I set the adjustable wastegate actuator? I have it set now so that the valve is all the way shut. I have it adjusted all the way right. Is the ok?

Be very careful with these. I had my mechanic install one that I got from Poston. I was showing some red line on the boost gage when I floored the car. I then proceeded to adjust the actuator so that very little thread was showing in an attempt to reduce boost. This was the wrong way and I blew the engine up. Thousands of dollare later and a new motor my mechanic set the actuator so that there is no red line on the boost gage. I can e-mail you pictures if yours is from Poston. Brad

To set the actuator, take the clip off of the wastegate arm on the turbo and take the actuator rod off...Holding the w/g flapper closed all the way, adjust the actuator arm so that the hole lines up with the flapper arm post AND THEN shorten the actuator arm by about 1/2 turn...Basically so that you'll have half the hole overlap...Then pull the actuator arm and reinstall on w/g flapper and put the clip back on...You barely want tension on the flapper to keep it closed...

Clear as mud, huh??? ;)

Hope this helps...If not, I'll try to explain it better next time...

Thanx for the info, thats how I have it set. I was just making sure that I was correct. Thanx again

ok im about to buy one but it seems very confusing to me on how to adjust it right thats the last thing i wanna do is blow my engine so when i recieve it how do i adjust just right for the first time to be on the safe side? should i open it all the way wit most of the thread showing or close it all the way wit no thread showing ? thats what i wanna know so i dont harm my engine thanx guys

Threading all the way right as far as you can will keep the valve all the way closed and cause the most boost. Thats what I do but I don't think adjusting the actuator can blow thew engine because I have adjusted it both ways and the only difference I can see is in the boost. Hope this helps.

I DIASAGREE WITH TRANS/2002. I PUT ON A POSTON ADJUSTABLE WASTE GATE ACTUATOR AND TRIED TO REDUCE BOOST AND WENT TO THE RIGHT ON THE ADJUSTMENT. THIS CREATED MAXIMUM BOOST AND THE CAR WAS GREAT FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THEN I PUNCHED ON A HILL AND BLEW THE PASSENGER SIDE CYLINDER HEAD ONE EIGHT OFF AN INCH THE BLOCK. THE ENGINE WAS AN ORIGINAL STOCK 85 REMANUFACTURED BY JASPER LAST YEAR WITH ONLY A LARGER CAM. NO OTHER HIGH PERFORMANE CHANGES FROM STOCK. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU ADJUST IT SO THAT THE BOOST GAGE READS 15 IBS AND DOES NOT REDLINE.

PS. MY MISTAKE COST ME ALOT OF MONEY-5000. I ENDED UP WITH A NEW REMAUNFACTURED HIGH PERFORMANCE 87 BLOCK WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE CYLANDER HEADS. MY 85 GN IS ALOT FASTER NOW THAN IT WAS EVER BEFORE . BRAD
