I threw a good used coil/module on my car along with new spark plugs on the drivers side(I got lazy and said screw the passenger side....:o ) That has taken care of my spitting and sputtering problem but I can only get 11# of boost out of her still. It is running great now........just have to find more boost!

My question now is, if my wastegate rod is placed at a bad angle and not able to push the wastegate puck all the way open?? Right now the wastegate spring is pushing the rod more downward then straight out. So, does the rod have to come straight out from the housing or spring that pushes it out??
How far should I be able to pull the wastegate rod out of the housing? I can pull mine about 1/2 in. That is about how much my stock one allows too..when I pull on it.
Here is a link to how the wastegate assembly is sitting on my turbo now........not the best picture, but it gives you an idea.

Thanks.........couldn't have gotten this far without you guys:cool:

Nick :D

I have an 85 GN with a rebuilt stock turbo and an adjustable waste gate actuator from Poston. The waste gate arm does not come out of the actuator at a 90 degree angle. more like 75-80 degrees. I will gladly send detailed pictures if you think it will help. Brad

Well nick I finally figured out my problem and maybe it might help your problem too. Put a piece of pipe in your maf pipe going to the turbo inlet. I couldn't believe it fixed my boost disappering problem. So try it and maybe you will get lucky like I did.

Good to hear ya got your car running Trevor. You had problems with the stock air inlet tube? I have been thinking of going to the muffler shop and get a nice aluminum pipe bent to replace that stock inlet tube. I am also thinking of taking the intercooler off and testing that out........since it did have 3 leaks when I got it......maybe one of them isnt holding up. Thanks for the replies guys.

Hey Trevor, why is it your inlet tube was compressing under boost? The size of your turbo now or that the throttle body is no longer there? What did you do to find out that it was that tube?? I was fooling with my car today, tried routing vacuum/boost lines different....nothing of course...LOL:D Still only 11# of boost(She feels as strong as the old setup at 17# of boost...was all stock with spearco FM, adj. fuel + boost). But, I did notice that when my inlet tube gets hot from the engine she is pretty flemsy and I can crush it without even trying. So, I am going to throw another $75 bucks at her this year and get a MH aluminum inlet maf tube..(as my local muffler shop is to basic to take on the task.idoits!!)...as see what happens...just wondering what would cause this??

Later, Nick

Yeah it was crushing under boost. I just put a pipe inside it one day and it was fine since then.
