Wastegate question, please dont kill me

This may sound dumb but trying to learn everything. If I take the stock turbo and take the wastegate parts off will it make it into an external wastgate turbo or is that not right. I understand external wastegate doesnt have to do with the turbo as much as an internal wastegate. Any input will help and if you must make fun of me feel free

Just run the internal gate setup. Plenty of fast cars out there with it so it works. I'd get a manual boost controller though when you are ready to turn up the boost.

Now if all the wastegate stuff is already removed what then?

the only way to remove the wastegate on a stock tr is by removing the elbow housing on the exhaust side of the turbo. it will reveal the exhaust wheel on the turbo. If aftermarket, the waste-gate puck is an integral part of the downpipe. the part that bolts to the turbo housing w/4 bolts. If you go on trcustoms web site, you can check out Marks pics on the d/p's. they are gn-1's, but Mark has the 3 differant types available in the pics. you will see the difference. the external is like a relief valve w/a diaphram and you control it's operation by adjusting the pressure.
