I have a te44 waiting to go on the car...but, it needs a wastegate actuator according to what I've read here becuase the stock one won't work. It also needs an exhaust housing becuase it was bored to puck match an ATR dp...the TH I have has a smaller puck. I really don't want to pony up the cash right now for the parts I listed. The stock turbo is fine..except I haven't puck matched the exhaust housing yet. I've said over and over that if the turbo comes off the te44 goes on. My KB headers already have a turbonetics deltagate flange on them..I just have it capped off right now. I have a friend selling a deltagate for $100.
You guys think I should just run external and weld the housing up on the te44?
What do you do with the puck?
Could I not just bolt up the external gate also and run both to eliminate the surging (just for now until I get what I need for the 44)?
I don't want to do something irreversible...I may decide to go back internally gated.
 
Someone should design a 1/4 inch thick spacer that goes between the turbo and downpipe.... this spacer would have a smaller wastegate hole in it so you could use the thdp with the 1.25 puck on the turbo that has a 1.50 hole.....

that would give you normal operation of the stock style wastegate and not have to purchase a new exhaust housing, or weld up the wastegate hole......

I have a few turbos with the larger hole and had to purchase ATR downpipes to mate up for my cars to fit the turbos...

it's way cheaper to buy a new exh. side from PTE than buy a new dp.
That plate adapter Idea is good...as long as the wastegate rod will still reach.
 
where to get waste gate

most any of the g.n parts sellers have them .try jays g.n fullthrottle speed and style.try atr,postons ,just type in g.n pats on google and you will have a big list of parts suppliers than can get you 1
