could it be bad but not throw a code?
i had a turbo go bad and dump oil into intake.got used turbo
it has gradually started to lose power at lower speed/rpm but now falls on its face off idle belches black smoke
but if you get rpms up then drop a gear down manually it will
get going.also i just found out that there is no o ring between turbo
housing where you clock it to the intake .
i do get an esc code but clear it and wont come back for a few weeks
any suggestions? . engine mostly stock with atr dp and hotwire kit
thanks andy

Missing that 0-ring will make it run lean under vacuum and rich under boost. The only place it will run decent is at 0vacuum. You are talking about the one between turbo and intake, right? Or the compressor housing to center section? If your solenoid went bad it would most likely make the car run low boost like ~7psi. I've never heard of one failing stuck open but it that were to happen, I suppose boost could be too high but it's not likely. Either way it won't make your car do what it's doing. I would start with fixing the 0-ring and go from there.

it is the oring between center section and compressor housing.
i am working of that now.
