I just purchased a 1985 GN and I've been told to get a water cooled turbo which is very good for performance.Any suggestions on where to purchase one.I've already looked on eBay and Kirbans.

SignUp Now!Thanks because I am going to change out the "maybe" original turbo for a bigger or newer one. There is no performance advantage to a water cooled turbo. Any t3/t4 can take a wet bearing housing. Then you need to route the lines to and from. I could swap yours out if you wanted. PM if interested
Again, you're looking for a custom 1 off that will need to be made for you. bison should be able to help you out here. Thanks because I am going to change out the "maybe" original turbo for a bigger or newer one.

Post 3.Charlie is talking about bison the second person to reply to your thread. He can build your stock turbo or upgrade it.
How much would it cost? There is no performance advantage to a water cooled turbo. Any t3/t4 can take a wet bearing housing. Then you need to route the lines to and from. I could swap yours out if you wanted. PM if interested
Yes I know like fuel and air,but like I told the previous owner this car is an 85 and for a car thats almost 30 years old,I don't know how this car was driven and I'm planning on putting an intercooler on the car with the turbo replaced so I wont have to deal with that later.Right now I got a electrical problem with the car,so speed will have to wait. You might want to find out if you really need a larger turbo. If you are new to this car, then don't assume a bigger turbo is needed. There are many other things to do first, especially if the car is stock/near stock.
Okay then what will besides fuel/air?these cars dont need an intercooler to be fast.
intercooled is overrated.
You might find that when you put on an intercooler, you might want to go with an 86/87 setup. Then you would be buying another turbo.Yes I know like fuel and air,but like I told the previous owner this car is an 85 and for a car thats almost 30 years old,I don't know how this car was driven and I'm planning on putting an intercooler on the car with the turbo replaced so I wont have to deal with that later.Right now I got a electrical problem with the car,so speed will have to wait.
Would a Scanmaster help with this? You might find that when you put on an intercooler, you might want to go with an 86/87 setup. Then you would be buying another turbo.
Start with the basics. Do you have boost and knock gauges? A scan tool? Fuel & air are important, but knock is key to a boosted car.
