i have water getting into my passenger side. carpet is soaked does anyone know where it could be coming from--mike

check the heater drain. if it's clogged, water will build up until it finds a way out.

the drain is in the engine bay up under the heater box- it's fun to get to with the car all together.

It this a t-top car?...Leaky t-tops have been known to let water seep in and over time, have the floor to rust through!...:frown:...Check for leaks coming from them and just hope your floor is ok. I've also read of some guys who cut the t-tops off the car and replaced it with a solid roof coming from a "donor" car, turning the car in a solid roof GN.

Claude. :)

It can also be coming in from the wiring going to the ECM.... water drains from the cowl on to the wiring, and wicks through to the floor. In some cases it shorts out the ECM. You can check this by putting a garden hose in the cowl area and gently put water in and see if the water comes through the harness. Good Luck

I have water coming onto my EMC. How do you fix it?

You don;t comment as to having t tops or astroroof or solid roof...

Water can only run down hill.

Unfortunately, the deadner under the carpet works like a sponge and will hold water eventually making the floor rust.

ABove advice is all good but finding the act leak can be tough.

You need to get everything out of that side of the car and have someone with a garden hose while you are inside the car trying to see where it originates from....

until you find it and fix it...dry out the ecm unit and position it out of the flow of water....before you have other issues...

if you have t tops unfortunately that was Buicks method for letting water into the car!
T Tops can be adjusted and new anti rattle weatherstrips would help as does rear seat braces to curb the water.....from either trickling in or rushing in....

water leaks can be frustrating to say the least.....

If you find it is coming in from the wiring harness ….you can add a cover to the harness to prevent water from getting on the harness….you can add a piece of rubber and use some zip ties to hold it in place.
The hard part is getting to the area to do the repair….for a GNX it is easy because all you need to do is remove the plastic wheel well patch to get to the wiring. I do not know the best way for a stock vehicle.

My hard top car was leaking at the "firewall to door jambs" seams. The seam sealer was old and cracked which allowed water to seep in. I fixed my leak by removing the front fenders to gain access to the old sealer. Of course, I was in the process of doing a restoration anyway.

I’m having the same trouble was going to post up on it tonight then seen this. I have an astro roof car and it filled the back seat floor board up this last rain we had usually car sleeps in side so it’s not a problem but I had it out working on the front end while engine is out. I took out the carpet today to find ware the water got in at havent found it out yet had to stop after I got carpet out do to needing sleep before work so today, when I get home I’ll go back to looking for the leak. I’m sure it’s something I did I just replaced the heater core so IM hoping I didn’t get something put back in right.
Bad thing was I have to rust holes about 1in in diameter to weld up now, and get this it’s not on the wet side its under the driver’s side brake pedal it wasn’t even wet on that side so I have no idea why it had rust on that side. Then to top it off I come out side tonight and my windshield is cracked. It wasn’t a good day for my GN at all.

A common place is the joint where the heater/ac box is bolted to the cowl.
Look at the seam sealer in that area... It's likely cracked and dried out.

Pertaining to the post about the astro roof and water issues....not sure if you examined this or not, but in the front corners of each side is a drain for the roof option....debris can block them causing the water to seek other methods of escape.....

even if that is not an issue be sure to blow out those drain tubes.....and make sure ater has a clear path.

Unfortunately, quality control at build was nothing like it is today.....

good luck....like I said before water leaks can be frustrating....

Plus it may be coming from more than one entrance.

I had a Jeep once and water would lay under the rear seat...it was a 2 door jeep cherokee no idea how the water even got to that area....weird...
