Soak it in water and bolt it on. No need for jizz unless the gasket surface is buggard up on the timing cover.

I believe when I replaced my water pump I didn't use any RTV since both surface was very clean and flat, and not pitted.
There are four bolts that goes through the water jacket engine block, and not only you must use, but I also used Pertmatex Thread Sealant with PTFE (Item #80632).

Glue it to the pump and put grease on the side that goes to the timing cover. This will seal fine and if you've got to take it off later you won't need to scrape the timing cover or deal with a lot of corrosion.;)
