After about a year of the company going back and forth with the Union we voted in a 3 year contract today.

$800 Signing bonus

.55 cent an hour raise 1st year

.35 cent an hour 2nd year

.50 cent an hour 3rd year

No monthly heath insurance cost which saves us (Depending on how many in your family) $40 to $130 a month.

The company can no longer force us to work overtime more than 28 hours a month. Most of this year we have had some months where we are made to work 36+/- hours overtime.

Theres more to the contract but thats just a few of the highlights that I was concerned with that the company took from us a couple years ago when they cut our pay and made us start paying insurance. At least now we will know what we are going to make 3 years down the road instead of the company giving us a 1 month warning that they are taking stuff from us.

Its a darned if we do...Darned if we dont deal.....Never wanted it to get to this.

Congrats Russell.. Glad to here there is finally an agreement in place. At the very least you have a little piece of mind in this shakey job market.

"In addtion to alarms on the cars I have a Model 29 S&W 44 Magnum, A Ruger 357 Stainless,a Russian SKS with folding stock & many 30 round clips. All of those guns are filled with hollow points and I have a CZ 52 clip gun that will go through a vest and finally a Remington 870 pump shotgun filled with 00 Buckshot. I will be buying more weapons to protect my GN soon. Did I mention that people disappear everyday in this world never to be found or seen again? A Crook does NOT want to mess with me. Large woodchippers are great for getting rid of a crooks body. I love my toys. Are my more than 5 lines grandfathered in?

Sounds to me like you could benefit from a company sponsored trip to see a shrink!!

In your case, 2 lines would be more acceptable. Have to agree with Chuck on this one!

If I knew I was only going to make $3K a year more three years from now, I would have already told my employer to go F themselves and would have have left for a job someplace else... but that's just me.

I guess I'll never understand the union mentality.

congrats... i guess.

I dunno.. I dont really see any reason to be concerned for Russells sig. Although it looks to me like any thieves and/or dirt bags might want to stay clear. Besides, whens the last time any of us didnt want to see a thief get introduced to the business end of a wood chipper?

Its like this...I was happy with what I was making....$21.66 an hour and I only paid $40 a month for my insurance(Very cheap) but now that we have a Union contract I wont have to worry about the company doing like they did a couple years ago and cutting our pay and benefits.

I guess Union mentality means not going backwards on pay and benefits. Hope that helps you understand and thanks for the congrats.

Oh and what do I do for that $21.66...uh..I mean $22.21 an hour.

When im not sitting at my desk reading GM High Tech I carry a clipboard:eek: .......ok...I do a "Tad" more than that....:D

We build the Century,Columbia and Argosy and the FLD. The FLD is going away from our plant....This will make the 3rd time they have sent it away...It keeps coming back though.Ha Ha We used to build the Business class at our plant but it went to another plant.
I work in the Cleveland,NC plant. Its the largest Class 8 truck plant in North America. :D

Yeah, the FLD just won't die!

I drive part-time for Penske Truck Leasing and they are a major customer. They mostly get the Columbia and Century daycabs with some condos sprinkled in the mix. They are well-built trucks and really can take a beating with all of the potholes that we have here in the Northeast.

Thanks

Thanks for the compliments. We are number one in market share and have been the last 10+ years. As long as we keep building them tough and reliable we will stay on top.
