I just installed a 3in ATR DP and 3in cottons cat back exh. System. Got ta49 60inj ,cam, alky, dutt neck, 340 fuel pump, adj. Reg. Etc. It was hauling a&@ but now it's very slugy, slow, weak ,slow spooling . I mean it killed it . Please help . I know you guys can help me and you know how much I just spent on these parts and I am telling u that it's so bad that I started to take that stuff right back off. All I heard was wait until you change that dp it was get the job done but now I could out run it with my 2000 tahoe . Help

Are you running a Cat?? And is the puck sealing the WG hole? How much boost were you seeing?

Sounds like the puck on the downpipe flange isn't sealing/matching up with the wastegate hole on the turbo outlet flange... = no spool/boost... or perhaps the rod is now just way mis-adjusted....verify proper wastegate adjustment.... will change a lot with a downpipe change... pull the rod loose and cycle the wastegate lever and verify the puck is in the closed position and operates freely before you go to the trouble of pulling the downpipe loose.... adjust the rod length as necessary... should have to pull hard on the rod ~1/8" out of the actuator to get it to slip over the puck lever arm...

Edit: if you find that it's simply a rod adjustment problem, be careful on the test drive to make sure the boost doesn't shoot sky high and damage something.... will take some careful testing to get the boost adjusted back right....

No cat, was running 25lb boost with a big happy face. I just tried to get it back were it was , I got to 21 still weak as hell then I got it up to 22 still weak . I have turned that rod way more than I use to have to turn just to get 22 . I sure feel like crap after all that cash.

Well... that sounds like the puck is not lined up properly with the wg hole or is not seating properly...and thus leaking exhaust gas all the time.... thus terrible spool, and having to crank the heck out of the gate to even make 'some' boost... you are going to have to pull the downpipe and 'blue check' the puck/hole alignment.... and go from there.... what fun.... :frown:

Blue check? Little more info , sorry still new to these car as far as this part goes. I thought since I got this far I just knew this big bad dp was going to realy do the job anyway maybe it will but I do need some more info.:

If you want to take a drive down south to Charleston, I would be more than happy to take a look at your car and get it figured out for you.

Let me know if interested and I will pm you my phone number.

PS....I dont charge anything for helping out fellow TR owners.

It's either that or take that $1000.00 worth of parts off and star over. What do think it might be. Yes pm me your# thanks

Take the down pipe off and make sure the puck is sealing the hole by putting paint (or ink or blue caulk) on the puck, bolt the dp back up, close the puck, remove the dp and check if it lines up to cover the hole. I can't think of anything you could have done wrong installing the down pipe and the down pipe will not kill your power.

When the boost comes it's ok but it don't run nothing like it did at 22 with the stock exh. It was realy moving at 25 with that new alky. Just takes so long to get there it was hitting like hell until I put that dp and 3in cat back on it.?????

Im leaning towards what 101 said....puck not sealing up with wastegate hole on the exhaust housing. Whatever it is, dont stress about it. IT will get figured out and you will be happy.

Forgot to tell you guys something I used a Cooper gasket on the ehx. Housing and I think it maybe letting the gases go by ,what you guys think get rid of that gasket uh?

I used the copper exhaust gasket on my TE-60 with 27 psi and it ran like a champ instant boost

I don't know , I am going to drop the dp and see if getting the puck adjusted will fix it but I am going to try it with out the gasket. That puck on the new pipe sure looks bigger than the one on the old exh. Housing.

Well I yanked that gasket off and check the rod and made sure the puck was free and it seems to be working fine , the puck that is but I guess I will have to try the blue dye test later today cause it's still running like crap. How would I fix it if it is the dp puck? And no I tried to find a thdp but I could not get one so I got a RJC/ATR/
