weird noise from turbo

hey whats up guys ive got a question for u guys and i hope u can help... ive got a ta-49 with a .63 ar and at 16psi i hear this flutter noise come through my air filter i have no idea what it is....

When does the noise occur? Is it when you let off?

sixbngr....I want to help......but unfortunately I have the same exact problem....mine flutters at about 14psi (the flutter feels like the turbo is "hanging there")...then it pushes past and the flutter stops. I am eager to solve this problem....so I hope someone can help. You;d be helping two people as well

ahh screw it im just gonna get a bigger turbo and hope that gets rid of the problem haha jk

Stk6 I'll give you my 2 cents worth. If its doing this while your on the gas then its probably a compressor map surge area your in, if its doing it when you let off its normal. I haven't read about hardly any ta49 owners talking about that turbo having surge problems and its a very popular turbo. I had a te44 w/ a V4 IC and you could certainly hear it surging between about 7 and 14psi but, as quick said, if you pushed past that boost level everything was fine and it would clear up and really start pulling good. You could see about changing your IC configuration as that will effect this noise/feel depending on what you currently have.

Thanks for the reply.....boostkillstrss......A compressor map surge? Hmmm.....can anyone think of any solutions to this surge, besides messing with intercooler configuration. I have a 49 as well.....and when it flutters under boost....it feels flat....like its stopped pulling. I only started noticing it since installation of an alky kit.....now that I run higher boost.\
