What are throttle blades made of?

You could use any metal pretty much, however, carbon fiber would be a great choice(may need a little engineering to get it right though). A good idea would be use a strong material which doesn't hold heat very well, and machine them half of the thickness for a little extra flow.

I've seen some that look like they are made of brass, but I think they could be made of aluminum or any sheet metal as long as it does not corrode:D

Something to keep in mind,

When you close the throttle at high boost conditions, that plate sees a LOT of stress. The compressor surge will try very hard to bend the throttle plate and break it. That's why they use a fairly thick piece of metal (aluminum?) on the buick throttle plates.

Just a thought...

I'll bet Jay Jackson... YGETV8... the 62/65mm TB guy could tell you!

Drop him a line!
