I just got my car dynoed at 400rwhp and was woundering what out cars can handle on stock internals. Everything inside is stock except cam. I was going to do a port job on heads and lower intake and maybe a bigger turbo(pt 67) but how much can i handle.
 
i think ill stick with the same turbo, how much of a gain would i get with porting and could it be handled safely. The car is at 21 psi tuned by bill andersons performance.
 
am I wrong in thinking a PT61 at 21psi should make more than 400rwhp? What IC are you running?

The numbers in my sig are as far as i would push a stock capped un- girdled bottom end. Id think its around 510 rwhp. I wasnt pushing it hard at all on that run.
 
im running stock IC and the heads are unported so is intake. Would it be worth it to get the heads and intake ported with stock internals and if yes how much of a gain would i be looking at.
 
well the stock IC will hold you back. Going with heads usally is .4 @ 4-5mph with no other changes.
 
I would change the intercooler first you will pick up almost as much as heads and will be a cheaper and easier mod. BTW in my old car I had over 100 passes w/ mph between 124-128 w/ stock unopened short block. The key is ZERO detonation and it will live.
 
Yep, get a new intercooler, id get a stock location. The PTE intercooler looks nice. I have a CAS V4, and they are one of the better ones made, sure you cant get them new anymore, but they're top notch!
 
So your saying ported heads and intake won't be much of a gain untill i get IC upgraded. Should i go frount mount or stock location intercooler. I've heard of heat problems with front mounts. That sucks guys, cause the heads are off right now and only have enough to do one or the other. Would i see any gains from just adding an aftermarket intercooler and get the car retuned.
 
do the heads since they are already off. Tune and save money then do the intercooler.
 
what kind of gains would i see with just ported heads and intake with stock IC with neck retuned, VS. unported heads and intake with aftermarket stock location IC and retune.

I would be geeting the heads done for a little over 600 so thats what im looking to spend.

Im fairly new to buicks, im learning as i go. Anyways just had a roller cam installed last month by andersons performance. Would the porting of the heads and intake affect the cam. I mean would i be able to get the heads ported and then just bolt them back on with no problem?
