Hey now, thats one of the few import cars that I like ;)
With a GN engine of course.

I have lots is Buicks but my favorite was in Marianne's 95 Z-28. Now this car had a Procharger and ran VERY well. (113 in the 1/8) We were behind another Z-28 and a 5.0 mustang who raced, the Mustang beat him by a car or so. I pull up alongside the Mustang minding my own business and the very second I do the 18 year old or so kid yells out "so you want to be next" I look over at Marianne who shakes her head and says to me "go ahead" in a sort of disgusted voice. We were rolling along at about 20MPH I turn and say to the kid "Just go when your ready" he says "what?" sort of mad and hits it, I wait until his back bumper is even with me, I stand on it and go by him doing a John Force worthy smoke show.
As I let him catch up his little blond girlfriend is hanging out the window giving us the thumbs up saying "that was GREAT". he would not even look my way. Still makes me smile.

A couple of years ago I was comming home from my son's soccer practice. I had my son, his friend and his friend's dad (heavyweight) in the car. I stopped at a light and a new Miata with the top down, pulled up with a middleaged guy and his blondie girlfriend. He started revving his pea shooter so I tell my friend watch this. The light turned green and I squealed the tires and left him two cars behind. Best part was I did it in my 87 Nissan Maxima station wagon with 175k miles on it. My son and his friend were pointing and laughing at them. Next light he hung back.

The Miata thing reminds me of another story in my Windstar, this time no trailer.

A Miata with guy and girl, are revving at me in my Windstar, loaded with wife, kids, and at least a few hundred pounds of cargo in the back. I nail it and the Miata was caught sleeping for a split second. He goes and pulls up with his rear bumper even with my front at the end of his 1st gear. The then throws the all time worst shift ever into 2nd. I think he broke something. He did manage to get into another gear and he then basically cut me off when his lane ended. Boy was he mad. My laughing didn't help

Nowadays if it doesn't look like it'll run mid 11s or better..I don't even wanna flex my leg muscles to push the gas pedal. Just gettn older I guess, but when I was younger I'd race an 'ol VW bug if it had a hole in the muffler! :D

Now that we've established how slow Miatas are, I'll mention a good one that I just remembered.

About 3 years ago I bought a '90 Miata cheap off of a friend for a daily driver. It was the biggest (ok, smallest) P.O.S. I have ever owned. Luckily I was able to sell it for a good profit. Anyway, it had a Jackson Racing airbox and header, 2.5" high flow cat and cat back, and a modified ECM and was still quite a bit slower than my '97 Cavalier coupe. One night my wife and I were on our way home feom a car show on the freeway when a '82 Vette (C3 with Crossfire Injection) rolls up next to me and sticks right beside me. I'm thinking this guy must be despirate if he goes after Miatas but nonetheless decided to humor him. I drop it in 3rd and we both hit it at the same time. We stayed side by side until I let off at 110. My wife and I were cracking up at the guy because we knew if we were driving anything else ('00 F150, '97 Cavalier) we would have dusted his a$$.

The body styling for Z-cars is actually well, sporty without being overly gaudy, it almost seems like an american designed styling. Tastefully sporty looking cars, shame that they didn't put the balls in em to back it up. I will agree that the GN swaps on these are nuts, got a vid somewhere of a 240ZX with an SC LS1 in it. All I've gotta say is DAMN.

I knew his post was still around here

My friend's dad showed up with his Ford again two nights ago. We (my son and I) were still coming home from Brainerd (racing). My wife said we went racing and we were driving back as they spoke. He told her he was ready to race me and proved it when he left our house. There was a rubber band one wheel burnout that went at least 13-15 feet long.

Back in the mid 90s a friend and I where cruising in his 87 T/A, when we came back to the parking lot where I left my car, (1983 Grand Prix, 400 Pontiac 230-236@.050, 470-480 lift cam, turbo 350 w/stock converter and 2.73 gears. Car was dead out of the hole cause of the gears and stock converter.) and there was some guys hanging out there with a 71 Plymouth GTX (was originally a 440-6 pak car but had a 360 that was profesionally built). They said car was in the 13s even though it was never at a track. I said I could let them know if it was (My GP ran 13.5@102). We went out on a back road that was marked off. As I was walking to my car I heard one of GTX guys friends say something about using the nitrous. Anyway we lined them up. He got me out of the hole but I passed him like he was standing still. Needless to say the guy was very dissapointed. A few weeks later a friend a mine is telling me they think I had nitrous on my car, when actually it was because of to big of cam, stock converter and highway gears. That car really came on strong at 2500 rpm.

This one last week at the track is one of my favorite. My brother was nice enough to get the vid after his car broke. You can see the truck I ran at the end of the video and you can hear him the whole way through. It's too bad you can't see more of the truck, it looked like it belonged in that movie "Deliverance". It had Big ole spare tires in the bed and everything. I think he trapped somewhere around 68MPH. I could have finished, come around, lined up and beat him again before he finished his first run:

I was in my daughter's Honda Civic. Stock engine but lowered and rims. I am at the gas station getting some smokes when this Punk pulls up in a Mazda Mx6 (?). I am walking out and he says, "You wanna run that thing?" I say nope its my daughter's car, BUT give me 10 minutes and I will go get my car. I tell him it is an old Buick Regal V-6. His face lights up like a kid in a candy store. He says sure, I'll wait. Anyway, I go get the GN and picked up my son-in-law. I asked if he wanted to go have some fun. So we head down to the gas station. His skanky girl friend was wiping down his ride. Well now he is not smiling any longer. "Lets do this" I say. "Before we do this, put your money where your mouth is, $50!" Now he is not happy at all! We roll out to 759 and we line up at about 25mph. He revs it, down shifts to first and takes off. I let him get about 10 cars on me. I easy into WOT and start chasing him down. Pull up next to him, blow the horn, give him a wave and floor it again. I watch him as he continues to try to catch up. I had to shift to overdrive to continue the race. He would not let off! Finally he lets off and I pull over to collect. I walk back to his window and he hands me some crumpled up $20s and a $10. His girlfriend was pissed! I said "Have a nice day", jumped back in the GN and laid a two perfect black marks on the street. I guess he didn't getting any that night!

A buddy of mine trade it his car for and 02 or 03 Ford Lightining.... He was happyer than a mouse in a cheese factory... He was running up and down the streets racing everyone he could.. After a coupple of races and win's under his belt, he felt confident enought to race me and bet me some money.. His truck was all stock, except a K&N he had just purchased.. At first i didnt want to race him. I told him to build his truck up and we can go out and play... Finally after about a week of sh#t talking, i decided it was time to shut him up... So we go out back to the streets, waited for the light to turn green, i boosted up to about 8psi, the light turns, he nails on the throttle, goes side ways a little, im still boosting, finally i hit about 10psi, i shoot out , i catch up to him and zoom by... We go back to the house, and he couldnt say anything.. The rest of my friends were just laughing because i had put him back into his place.... It was fun........ He swore he was going to be back for me.............

for me it must have been my first car a 1970 or 74 vega  , with rally rims the car looked sporty, i was maybe 17-18 yrs old, so on the first trip out on the car i decided to take a friend of mine with me, we were both so happy we now had a way to get around town, well while cruseing down 17 ave i approced a bridge and as were climbing the bridge i feel and hear the car begin to sputter-out  , the car ended up dying almost at the top of the bridge, so of course it started to roll backwards  :D  , so instead of hitting the breaks i try to stear and end up on the oncoming traffic lane driving backwards, needless to say our plans changed forever we would only go out in the car as long as we did'nt have to cross any bridges;)

A stage 2 roush mustang, Beat it by 2 cars to 70 in a 1.8T Jetta w/ a chip.....twice. Also 360 modena kill in formerly owned typhoon...same thing to 75 or so pulled it hard...but it was coming back FAST when we let out.
Alot of what I see is driver failure in superior cars in my experiences.

I was in my Corvette Convertible which ran mid to high 13's. It had a lot of bark not so much bite. It was late at night I pulled upto BK driverthru with a freind of mine. Behind us pulls in a late 80's 5.0 Mustang GT, typical sounding H-pipe Flowmaster with 3 High School Football Players from Natick (next town over) They rev their engine, I do the same in response. They start reving the piss out of the engine and mocking my car. I am like OK, enough already we are waiitng in line at the drive thru. I pull forward. The mustang attempt to do a burn out. LOL it barely spun the tires consider they dumped the clutch. I knew right then it wasn't playing with deck of horses. I get my food, and stop in the parking lot, they pukk up next to me and chat for second. They are obvious idiots. I pull on the 4 lane road (2 in each direction) slowly going toward Natick (the town the are from) and they pull out to pass, its on and over with a couple seconds. That 5.0 must have been run close to 16's We pull up to a light and they quickly pull U-turn to go in the opposite direction

My favroite is we (son and I) returning from the video store in the GN. Up pulls a honda civic and when he lifts "psssshhhh" it's a turbo car. My son says "I don't know it's got a turbo and a lot of gages". Well we catch a light and have to turn, ricer follows:biggrin: . I tell my son watch and see what a "TRUE" turbo car can do!!! We are rolling @ 15mph on the feeder and I let him jump a car on us and roll in to WOT. I never even downshifted to first and blew past him by about 35mph. Son still tells that story to his buds.:D That was his first "street race".

Gosh I have a few but all were in my old 86 GT....
1st...69 Camaro with a 454 guy was talking all kind of s**t, about how I didn't have a chance, well I put about 3 cars on him.....4 TIMES!!!!

2nd Vega wagon with a V8...street raced him 2 times and put a car or two on him. Yes its pretty pathetic when a 14 second Mustang beats your V8 Vega!

3rd was a 79-81 Z-28....pulled up along side with a friend of mine in his car, he thought he was quick but I proved him otherwise. Beat by a couple of bus lengths with 2 people in the car with me!!!

Nobody ever seems to mess with me in the TA, but then again I don't drive it all that much anymore.:(

Right after I got my '00 WS6 clone(triple black, 6-speed, ls6 block out of an '02 firehawk, f13 cam, ls6 intake, pacesetter longtubes, full 3" magnaflow, ~450 crank hp) I got a run in with a v-6 turbo mustang, 94-97:confused:. I had seen the car around town for a couple weeks and had heard the BOV. I have to admit I pulled up beside him and kicked it first to "test the water". he did nothing at first. After a mile or two he pulled up beside me and we "ran". It looked like he threw it in reverse! That car had nothing. After that I slowed down and he was going to try the "ricer flyby", so I kicked it at about 50 or so and the tires broke loose(nothing serious just enough to kick the back end out a little) He immediately slowed to a crawl and turned soon after.

I saw him at the track a few days later jumping out of his car (lambo doors) screaming like crazy waiving a timeslip yelling "8.80...8.80!!!!" kinda made me feel bad for starting the race...not really.;)

By the way the T/A is for sale PM me.
