Me and Esinger and NCtyphoon went out to the let's talk car annual cruise in today. I enjoyed watching everybody break their necks looking @ the differences in ESinger's 85 GN and looking @ my 87 GN.

Then i smacked it getting on the highway :p go turbo go

We took measurements for wheels to day. We have a Moser 9" installed with Wilwood disc brakes, just trying to figure the back spacing we will need. Want to run 15X8" wheels with 275/60/15 MT street radials. The stock 10 bolt was 58" WMS to WMS and the Moser is 57.75" WMS to WMS. We are not going to notch the frame but will roll the fender lip.

Tonight I.....

....installed my new Accufab fuel pressure regulator and I also installed this fuel pressure gauge while I was at it....

Getting freakin' CLOSE to starting it up! Crammed my 3" intercooler pipe over my 4" MAF pipe. IAC angle boss or plenum spacer not required when you're stubborn and cheap.

Waiting for UPS to come tomorrow with my fittings from Summit so I can re-route one of my oil cooler lines. If I finish up the rest of the car and UPS hasn't showed up yet, I'll just loop the oil cooler and start it up for fun.

Nice. You got the same regulator I do. Im told its the best one on the market. Ziptie all of those vacuum lines, especially the ones for the regulator.

As for my car, I replaced the upper radiator hose last night. The old one had a half dozen or so little cuts in it. Wierd...

Fixed it up and added coolant, and all is right in the world. Im currently collecting fittings to put my external cooler back on. Then I gotta do the headliner.

I completely agree with this statement. I blew mine off once and thats all it took. If it werent for my motor being several states away from my car that hose would still be ziptied as tight as it could be.

You cant be too carefull. And besides, how much is a pack of zipties? Cheap insurance for me IMHO. I ziptied all the ones I could, but the ones on the vacuum block I couldnt get to. I did use silicone vac hose, so that helps.

I always seem to blow the up-pipe off at the worst times. Never had a vac line blow off though...

Sorry to hear about your motor.:frown:

Put on my new TA cover/girdle. Getting at the bolts to torque
them are a PIA with the stock muffler in the way. Looks Great though. Now for the downpipe and cutout. Spring is here...finally:biggrin:

Thanks! I am alright with the motor being toast. At least I blew it up racing instead of doing a burnout or a dyno run. Plus, I got a good deal on some great parts. When I get it back together I will be sure to post that I got it running for the first time in a year in this thread.

Well she's running! Wasn't without a few headaches though. Took a while to get the battery to cooperate (I know, bring it indoors for winter, I'm lazy/forgetful). Then after finally getting it to fire it runs for a few seconds and my girfriend standing in front of the car says something is leaking... OIL. Stupid me, I left the one fitting loose so it would swivel freely while I positioned the cooler, and never tightened it. Took care of that with a wrench.

Fires up, let it run for a minute or so again, seeing temps of 220. Shut her off and let her burp out some of the air in the system.

JUMPED the car again, let it warm up, throw it in reverse to pull out of the garage, I heard splash splash splash, get out and look, this time I'm greeted by trans fluid on the floor. Didn't want to crush the rubber lines with the hose clamps but guess I didn't go tight enough, increase in pressure when shifting into reverse gave it enough push to squirt out of the lines going into the cooler.

Finally got out of the garage, idled it for a few seconds, noticed a pretty bad miss during slight throttle but it's been sitting all winter and has a buttload of new parts on it, I'll make sure I put some miles on her and give things a chance to clear up before I worry.

THE HARD PART IS OVER. Will be testing the new turbo this weekend. ;)

Tuesday I took it out for the 1st time this year and found out that 22psi and 50mph means you almost ram into the EVO in the next lane while hydroplaning.

Time for that frame notch and 325/50's.

I dropped my gas tank....

And pulled it out......

And removed the sending unit...

Thinking it still had the stock fuel pump, to find this....

I stared at this mess for a while:

...and stared....

gn_nomotor_042108-3.jpg

As I was staring there was some sort of explosion. I thought maybe the car was falling, or I had been shot. But no, one of the springs on the garage door let go. Scared the crap outta me.

It blew with enough force that the spring had collapsed on the eye hook and bent the angle iron that the door hangs from. I went to Home Depot to get a new eye hook. On the way back I got nailed by the local po-po for "UNSAFE PASSING". He said I was 'screaming up the right lane passing people'. Well I was screaming up the right lane, as fast as a 300HP Northstar will haul a 5,000 lb. Cadillac but I was NOT passing on the right. There was no one in the left lane. I was cordial, so was he, and I got a written warning. The eye hook was 50 cents plus tax.

I put the new spring in (had one laying around) and snapped those pics.

Some day I might actually drive the car again.

Installed a new ashtray switch panel from TR Custom Parts 84-87 Turbo Regals, 94-6 Impala SS, 93-up F Body Cars, Olds G-Body Cars, Late Model Corvettes, S-10 Blazers for the TCC lockup, FAN and Line lock. Installed the light for the line lock as well, pretty cool

I just have to chase down the electrical gremlins I am having. Something wrong with my harness, with key on and I move it behind the alternator the fuel pump and fan are cutting off.

check the bulkhead over by the master cylinder. i bet it eh grease had dried up and has a $hitty connection.

Front springs and front LS1 brake swap is DONE. Got the grille in front of my new FMIC without having to cut anything.

Car is basically ready. Gotta throw on the front bumper and then I can drive it. Still have a few things to do like new downpipe and tubular LCAs but those are 20 minute jobs.
