In order to get a good ram-air effect (positive pressure) I have heard that it is important to seal the sides of the area between the A/C condenser and the front grill, so that all the air coming through the grill has to go through the condenser and radiator. This would create a high pressure area once the car is in motion. By placing the K&N cone filter in that area, one would get a ram-air effect.

So what did you guys who have done this use to seal the sides? Cardboard? Sheet steel? Fiberglass? Plastic sheet?

Did you hold the side panels in place with duct tape or what?

Thanks,

Stock setup came with 3 pieces of rubber about 1/8" thick...2 smaller pieces for the sides...they are attached by push-in type clips...1 bigger piece that attaches to the bottom of the grill with push-in clips and to the bottom of the radiator support with small bolts...these pieces were constructed of rubber imbedded with cloth...very strong material...I've looked for similar stuff but can't find it...rubber suppliers say it's been about 10 years since sheet rubber was made that way...I've tried some rubber sheeting with cloth layers but it tears very easy...not sure what else you could use...if you come up with any good ideas I'd like to know...in the meantime I just bought some used pieces from one of the used parts guys...
