So I don't hide anything. Just somethings I have to get more than I feel there accually worth. MIKE ;)

Well, this was some honest replies, eh?

So I guess we will have to start our guess a number give aways again. :) I will put some more products on the giveaway block here shortly. I just need to get some things and some time.
But, we will get back to our giveaways. In fact, go here for the latest giveaway I started today.

Yes do it but with a different format

Bruce,

Ebay started a fixed auction format. I have been using that for some time now and really like it better than the regular auction format. I set the "buy it now" price on an item (cars and parts) with a "make an offer" selection below it, then I just wait for offers. I can decline, accept or counter offer the ebayer while other offers can come in at anytime. It throws the last minute bidding out the window and gives plenty of time for questions and answers from buyers. It also rules out first come first served and is a win-win situation for the seller. The seller is in controll and can sell to whoever he or she wants to. For an example here is a link to a 1999 SL500 I am selling.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...=4637382466&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MESE:IT&rd=1

The one fall back about this forum is the first in line rule on the parts for sale. I understand first come first served but sometimes the first, second, third and fourth buyer are not serious. By then the item is TTT and the seller looses out while the others waiting to be next in line found other parts for sale o the forum or ebay.

ebay

Ok steam blowing  I was in line twice this week to buy a set of GN wheels in the parts section. Both times I was put out and lost a chance to buy GN wheels. Both times the seller went to a person that was not in line. On the first set I had already sent the money and then it was refunded so they could sell to another member. Has it happened to you on this forum?? I bet it has. Thats why a fixed auction format would work well so people like me would not have to be so upset when others jump your deal. Buyers make an offer and you sell to the best one. None of this "in line" rule to deal with.

good idea

I like the idea,I can't seem to buy the stuff I need as good used used stuff. This could make it easier.

I'm sorry that the person that you were dealing with was not an honorable one, but if a seller has an asking price and the first one that agrees to it then the deal should be done. I believe that majority of the sellers and buyers here have done that. It will make the seller happy because he got his price. If we hold auctions then the only people that will get the choice parts are the ones with"DEEP POCKETS". I don't think that the Buick community has come to that stage yet.

deeeep pockets

Yes the deep pocket buyers would win. I would hate it if I was buying but love it if I was selling

This forum has been good to me with parts and advise. The members are great to deal with. Only the small issues like I mentioned above are a problem but that is the way it goes and newer members might not know the rules. I have not been taken for money but I have noticed how everyone jumps to attention when a member has. Everyobne sticks together well. That is why I think a fixed format would work.

No, I hate all the bidding BS. If you find what you need here you make a deal and it's done. Also how about when someone has a lot of parts they want to sell. Now they can list everything in one post and guys can pick through it. We can also go back into past posts and possibly find something we need now that was listed a few weeks ago that did not sell. An auction style every item will have to be listed seperately and that would be a PITA for the seller's. If an item does not sell and the auction is over it will not be available again unless it is listed again.

This is Buick guys helping other Buick guys. Leave it alone.

Edit - Here is exactly what I am talking about !!!!

Well you can set up a separate "Auction house" forum in the market place; people can choose to list there or in the regular parts for sale. And Buyers can choose whether or not to bid there or from the buy direct forum.
But I doubt the auction style it will be high volume judging from the feedback here.

auction

NO. I THINK THE BOARD IS GREAT!I JUST WOULD LIKE TO SEE DIFFERENT PRODUCTS ON SALE EACH MONTH FROM VENDERS:EXAMPLE june-month for intercoolers/july-fuel pumps/august-crankshafts,etc.I would be glad to make out a monthly list if interested.I think this would be a great idea and would help out us low budget guys.thanks..

Too much pressure

I think it's better business to let people make their own deals. It's both faster and less risky. People on ebay are always jacking prices and buyers are often liers! If you wanted to make any changes, I'd think more along the lines of more specific catagories (i.e.; interior, exterior, drive train, original/after market, etc.) This site is great just the way it is!! Auctions would make for bad undertones. Plus, we already have ebay, right? :frown:

format style

I dont like the ebay "auction listings" also but I am talking about something different which is called a fixed listing format. Ebay has this style and it works great. No bidding just a "buy it now price" and a "make offer selection". Close to how it is done here. I would like to see a modification to the forum parts listing to mimick ebay's "Fixed Price Format" Lets say I have 20 parts for sale. Each part has a "buy it price" with an "make offer selection next to it" You can buy it now or make an offer. Now with that said lets say 200 members reply to my listing. Would it be nice to see my 1st listing space in the forum with a space marked "sold" or "available" or "offers pending" next to the part instead of thumbing through 200 replies? Fixed format works that way and the inline rule is out the window. Seller agrees to the best price within a certian time frame of 24,36 or 48 hours. Of course buy it now means you have purchase rights for the part instantly. The seller could also keep up with offers and sold items if they have several items to sell. It has been smooth on ebay for me. I have totally went away from the bidding format and listed cars and parts by this fixed format method. Works so much better for me and a buyer. We have feedback so why not a fixed format?
