Well guys, in a coulpe of months the buick will be back on the road for some weekend driving. Well i'm finally going to be loosing my pegleg/one wheel wonder rear end. When I put posi on in the spring time, should I stay with the 342 or should I go with 373? I though I should stay with 342 but friends are telling me to go with 373? The car will be just for the street, possibly hitting the track at the end of the year once I put the DP on and tune it right.

Whats your opinion?????

Stay with the 3.42 ratio. With 3.73 and 26" tall tire you will probably have to shift into overdrive before the end of the quarter mile.

Yup. 3.42's work great. No need to mess what works. Actually, with the 3.42's I am just hitting redline when I cross the 1/4 mile, and the difference on the street won't be huge. The 3.42 is a great ratio for these cars IMO.

I agree stay with the 3.42 ,I have 3.90 now and I do have to shift to overdrive, scan tool shows Im running 109 in the 1/4 but the time slip only shows 104. I think the car will have more mile per hour with the 3.42' back in.

Stay with the 3.42's there great gears for these cars, if it was a v8 i would say 3.73's . My car will throw you in the seat with the 3.42's plus it will save you some money .

No 3.73's:D

Yeah I'm shifting at 1000' course my car hates the track so nothing works well there.

I like to drive 80 or so on the E-way and it feels like 2900k is too many RPM for that. I get some driveline vibration but that could be the crappy old driveshaft or U-joints the way my car shifts.

On 245-50-16 BFG Comp TA's it spools so fast from a dead stop or rolling 5-10 mph that it blows the tires off. 20 psi is like right now!! The 275-50-15 DR's boost comes up a little slower they are about 1" taller but it still feels really quick.

If I was to drive a wide open 60+ mph to work everyday I would stay with the 3.42's. I live in town and venture out once or so a month in my GN so I guess I'm happy with the gears I have.

It really depends on the size of tires you are going to run.

Most say stay with the originals and most of them are faster than me.
