What is a mild cam?

I was under the impression it was a cam without a lot of lift and long durations, but it seems like every time some one says they have a "mild cam" it is loopy as hell, so wouldn't that make it almost the opposite of mild

They dont want their buyers to be like " that sounds stock "

Most mild cams are probably "mid cams" ... since new cars use pretty healthy cams stock. My 96' z28 stock cam would have been an aftermarket cam for my 67' RS ---

This sounds like the old "3/4" cam. My bud Greg had someone ask for one so he went into the back of the shop and took the last 4 lobes off an SBC cam with a chop saw.:biggrin: Well it was a 3/4 cam after all. LOL

"Mild cam" is a loosely used term. What one might say is mild to another might be a radical cam. Just like some think a 4.56 rear end gear on a non overdrive 3 speed transmission is a street gear while others proclaim it's a 1/4 mile gear.

My opinion, a mild cam is a hair above stock...maybe with a very slight lope, but for the most part still has good street manners, can run efficiently with a stock stall converter and still allows the engine to produce at least 17 inches of vacuum.
