WRONG !!!! Come on!! DON"T ASSUME anything from me. Ill tell ya like it is. Plain an simple. This 9/11 has at least 20k miles on it.. We DRIVE the hell of the car. Playing on the street we lock it up all the time manually.. Pulls like a freight train. 1/ 9 sec run BUT has at least 15/20 runs in the 135/138+mph. Converter has never missed a beat..:p Has a 700 LU soliniod and a very well built tranny by Russ. Of course we have a good trans cooler to. I have a LOT of friends running 135/158 with lock up converters. I really don't know any secrets.
On another note we have been beating up my old Mazda/Buick.. Of course it has a 9/11 LU in it to.:D

The question is this. How many 130 mph plus runs before the clutch starts to burn out? Hitting the track every now and again is fine...but how many hits will it take if you're beating on it at the track most weekends?

We did those runs all in one month before we went to Reynolds (got thrown out of 2 tracks for running to fast) . We have taken the trans apart once to see how things were wearing.. EVERYTHING was fine and CLEAN.
I don't really see many mid/high 10 sec cars goin 20k on 1 trans and converter never mind low 10s high 9s. Don't know what guys are doing or NOT doin. 130 mph/mid 10 car should have no problems.
We are goin to send the converter back one of these days for a freshening up. But Russ has been saying that for a while. We are goin to be pushing it a little more after we do some upgrades to the rear end.

Dan...if you can...post up some pics of the convertor when it's cut open. I'm sure the guys who would like to go this route would like to see how much wear...or lack of wear...it has on it.

Not a tranny guy, but isn't there a checkball that helps control lockup? Would removing the checkball help?
