What is the most preferred shift kit for the 2004 trans...if different for the TTA over the GN then state TTA or GN. I have been told to get the Art Carr shift kit for my TTA but to be sure it is the "real" Art Carr...which one is the real Art Carr? Please provide the correct website.

Thanks,
Scott

this is what we can offer you.
#24RSRK/A SHIFT RECALIBRATION KIT $129.00

The main focus of this kit is to reduce clutch and band slippage common with the factory hydraulic calibration. This easy to install kit includes all the necessary parts to recalibrate the hydraulic circuitry of the GM2004R transmission for high performance street and dragstrip usage. This is accomplished in many ways.New .500" TV boost valve, and .296" intermediate boost valves and a heavy duty pressure regulator spring significantly raise transmission mainline pressure to increase clutch and band apply pressures. A new AC/DELCO seperator plate is properly orificed to increase the flow of oil to the friction elements. Re-engineered springs for the accumulator valve, line bias,1/2 accumulator ,and 3/4 accumulator, and an updated 3/4 accumulator piston introduce a throttle sensitive accumulator and pressure rise system that meets the demands of high output engines. This reduces friction element failure and excessive heat build up during and after ratio changes. This kit allows the shifts to get shorter and firmer as the throttle is opened, resulting in clean ,positive gear changes at small throttle angles without the "bangs and clunks",and short firm shifts with larger throttle angles. Most kits do not have this feature engineered into them resulting in brutal part throttle shifts that beat and break internal components as well as generate many new drivability complaints.Hundreds of these kits are in use and this kit is recognized as the best of its kind.includes all the necessary gaskets and instructions. Please note that high performance applications will benefit from the use of a larger intermediate servo to multiply the clamping force applied to the intermediate band.If your transmission is not from an 86 / 87 Buick Grand National OR 89 Turbo Trans Am which was factory equipt with a high performance intermediate servo assembly, the use of a high performance servo assembly should be considered. The following 2 kits include intermediate servo assemblies.

This is what i always use and i do several of these a year.

Chris,

Thanks for the info...can this kit be done in the car or will the trans need to be removed. I have installed a few kits and valve bodies over the years both in and out of the car. Also not ready to change converters yet...it should be ok with the stock TTA converter correct? What is the typical installation time for a decent home mechanic...roughly speaking

My TTA has 46K miles on it and doesn't appear to have been abused by the previous owner. The shifts are not quite as firm as I would prefer so hoping this will give it a nice tune-up untill I'm ready to do a full rebuild plus new converter down the road.

Thanks,
Scott

typical install is 1 hour for us,2 for the do it yourselferit is done in the car by removing the pan and will work great with the stock converter.it will definately liven things up.
