Looks like a PTE 70HPQH Buick turbo w/ a journal bearing. Billet tho dont think so? Ask Bison im sure he would know.

it has the machined grooves like its a billet turbo.

Did the seller list it as a billet wheel when he sold it to you?

The exhaust wheel is a GTQ. The compressor wheel looks like a 71 to me. The pitch of the fins doesn't look billet, but the little maching lines in it sure do.
TB3-80 is .63 GTQ
TB5-80 would be a .85 GTQ
TBx-68 is HPQ ( I have an HPQ stamped TB5-85 also)

he said he got it as a package deal with some headers and was not sure about it being a billet but he thought it might be one of the older 71 billet due to the machine lines in the compressor wheel. If it is a 71 why would someone engrave 70 TSM in the housing. It does not look like pte did it thought!

That is a PT71 GTQ, circa 2003-2005. It has a high efficiency Billet 71mm BW comp wheel that likes to make it's power from 25-38psi. It also has a GTQ turbine wheel. This has been a legal TSM turbo for years. We used to engrave 70 TSM onto them. It has the older Holset style H compressor cover with the anti surge ports. This was the style of our H compressor cover for years, until we came out with the new casting that has our Precision logo casted into it. It also has a .63 A/R Buick 3-bolt turbine housing. It had a rating of 875 flywheel hp. This turbo would typically come standard with a .85 A/R turbine housing.

If you can find one, yes it would help with flow, once you start pushing the turbo.
THB5-80 would be the official part number. We have not had any of those housing for a long time now though. Might check with Limit Engineering to see if they have any left.

Depending on what sort of times you expect and what you are doing with the car the 63 housing may be an advantage. Are you looking for a 10 sec streeet car or a 8 second race car?

id like to hit a 9.99 atleast once. I primarily drive on the weekend and do go to the track regularly.

would it be possible to get the newer style ported compressor housing for this turbo?? I believe its the "H" cover.
